College Acceptances: celebrate here!

I read some other posts from IWI and other than recommending he read the book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People", I think we should ignore him. Let's celebrate.

ditto, marny1

ding dong, the witch is dead.

Step off, ivywannabee...let the safety celebrating continue!

I read some too and me thinks he is someone looking to transfer. Hmm, did someone celebrate at his house when he got into his first college?

Let the celebrations continue....

I'm happy for every single one of your kids on this thread! I can't celebrate here as mine are already in college. But I can celebrate that I don't have a kid who talks/posts like what we all just read :D.
Susan

Let's not forget these are not all "safety" celebrations. One kid's safety is another kid's dream :D

Marny1- I totally agree with you. My D has her dreams, but the stress level has decreased incredibly since she got acceptances to two state universities last week. One is "away", so now she does not feel like she has to stay "home", whatever may come in April. This Thanksgiving I was giving thanks for rolling admissions!!!

I think it is wonderful that so many schools let you know so early. I for 1 will keep these in mind for next year.
Celebrate!

Congratulations everyone!

My son was accepted ED to UVA today!

UVa, great! Love Charlottesville. Make fun plans for Parent's Day now!

congrats coronax2! UVA is great!

Is this our first ED (binding I mean?) That's a milestone as it means accepted and On the Way! Congratulations! And after that nerve-wracking online glitch! What a joyous relief for you. Enjoy.

Thank you for the well wishes. May I also add that I learned so much from the CC forums. I was able to pass along a lot of great information to my son and his friends. Thanks for sharing!

coronax2,

That's great news! My husband is a UVa grad and son will be applying for RD admission.

coronx2,

Thrilled for you! My favorite neice is a UVa grad, and loved every minute of it!

"I hope you have cause to celebrate when your admissions letters come out as well as these folks. I'm happy for them. Let us know your outcome and we'll hopefully be congratulating you as well. I hope you have more than Ivies on YOUR list too. I hope if you don't get into an Ivy, you won't be devastated but I fear you may be with your name "IWannaIvy" and with your attitude that anything less is not worth celebratin'!"

I do have more than just Ivies on my list as I recently just applied to several UCs. Though my username is "IwannaIvy", it certainly does not mean that I will feel life is over if I do not get into an Ivy league school. I simply do not see the point in celebrating admissions into schools where the admissions rate is as high as the reject rate of Harvards.

"I read some other posts from IWI and other than recommending he read the book, "How to Win Friends and Influence People", I think we should ignore him Let's celebrate."

I thought the parents forum would be more mature. Instead, because I have a differing opinion from yours, you suggest to everyone to ignore me. Thanks. Thanks a lot.

IWI, we parents have learned much in our adult years. You, too, will hopefully learn that some children who yearn for attention will attempt to find it whether it's in a positive or negative way. Many parents find that ignoring a child who is behaving badly (i.e. leaving the room if the child is throwing a tantrum) usually will help decrease/resolve those tantrums. Although your attitude is poor, I do hope that you are successful in your endeavors regarding school. I think that you'll find this site to be quite useful, but if you continue to spew negativity, you will probably find that most people will simply skip past your posts. I get the distinct feeling that you thrive on keeping the pot stirred. I feel sure your mother or father must have mentioned that ever-popular piece of advice ... "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all." Good luck in school.

congratulations to all the recent acceptances (UVA! wow!)- DS is in heaven and I'm sure your kids are all so happy and relieved. In a small private school where most kids apply to LAC's, he is much more able to relax than his peers - he'll get some more acceptances, and some rejections, but meanwhile rolling admissions has made his day!!

My S was admitted ED to Elon yesterday!

Congrats on Elon! One of my daughter's friends is a recruited tennis player and she already knows she's going there.

Congrats dolphin...my d is sending app in to Elon this week...heard its a gorgeous campus and is becoming increasingly more competitive each year.
