College Acceptances: celebrate here!

It is sunny indeed!!!!!!!!! There may be a few scattered clouds but I can't see them :D See you next year mootmom!

Oh Andi,

I am so happy for you and Andi & Andison. Looks like the final chapter to this saga has been written and we can now close this book. Cant wait for this time next year's installment of - so how was your kid's first year at college/

Kat, Kat, Kat..

If ya'll really new how low my EQ really was (I hate suspense). I agree maybe you and D can drag a decsion out of him :)

I think he is doing a really lovely gesture for prom (just does not want to choose just one- yes I see the theme), but you'll look back on all of this and laugh (find out if you can get a bulk rate on the corsages :) )

Andi, So excited to see your son's choice is MIT! :) :) :) It just doesn't stop being fun to read your good news! XOX -SB

On the other hand he has a date for prom, and is escorting several other dateless girls, so he needs several corsages for them (anyone seeing a trend?)

Too adorable. Not matter how much he strains your patience until April 30, all must be forgiven if he is buying corsages for a bevy of girls in his HS class. What a wonderfully fun problem boy you have.

Oh! Oh! Is that news from Andi?!! MIT gets our andison?!! Cheers to andison and all to know and love him best! But include us all in that toast!

Thanks for the good wishes, everyone. It is indeed a new world. :)

Andi - Maybe they'll run into one another in Cambridge one day. Then again, how would they ever know?

I am so thrilled for your son and your family. All good things do come to those who wait.

Kat - How did the school poll turn out?

Quiltguru - Congrats on your daughter's Yale choice. Maybe our daughters will run into one another at "The Game!"

Congrats on the decision Andi and to your son for MAKING A DECISION!

MIT.

Thank goodness they got y'all the package.

Now you have to get t-shirts and sweatshirts and a BUMPERSTICKER!

Also big congrats go out to twinmom, Quiltguru and fireflyscout, and Splashmom!!!

Ok, so for the fun stuff, towels, yes towels the Fieldcrest brand at Target were 50% off today, nice colors, reg 9.99 for the big towel down to 4.98.

I realized sulking about the situation was not helping, so I went shopping. Much better.

Kat

Congrats to Andison - a happy end to a long road!

Piling on with the andison congratulations. That awful phase this time last year will someday be a blip on the landscape. But I know lots of learning and growing took place. Andi, you are out of our godforsaken boat for sure! And I can row on my own now. (see below)

Andi and Andison,
Congratulations on a decision well-earned!

Several folks have asked about jmmom and son's transfer saga. Isn't it over yet? Well, no. Several decisions for transfer students don't come along until late May (ugh). But the interim results have been good and jmmom finds she is able to relax.

With the phase-out of Tulane's EE program, jmson applied to oodles of places for transfer - it was all just too hectic and panicked when it happened. But it felt like we needed to do it that way. In total, I think there were a dozen apps. Still waiting to hear from the lottery schools (Stanford, JHU, Cornell) and a couple of others. But so far:

Accepted to: Vanderbilt, Lehigh, UMiami, Miami of Ohio, St. Louis U ($). He also has verbal acceptances to two Big 10 top-ranked Engineering schools (there was confusion about his transcripts at these two schools, so the formal responses won't come until his spring transcript is final). He has some good options.

Of course, we wouldn't want it to be too simple, would we? :o: He is enjoying Tulane immensely (it was his first choice, after all) and is thinking about trying to stay there one more year and transfer as a junior. Mom and Dad are not too keen on this scenario; but, hey, it's his decision and we'll cross that bridge when we come to it.

My one non-negotiable demand: NO MORE APPLICATIONS! Delay the transfer to jr. year only if the chosen school allows a deferral. (Hmm, am I allowed to make non-negotiable demands? )

GO ANDISON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WOWZA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SOOOOOOOOOOOOO glad that the finances worked out!! Now, enjoy the sweet fruits of your labor!!!!!! Best wishes for the best four years EVER!!!!

~berurah

Way to go and many hugs, andison and andi! MIT is so lucky to have him! A special hug to andi who tenaciously supported her extremely talented young man and helped him to find the college that is perfect for him. And taught US all so much while doing it! :)

jmmom
so interested to hear "where things stand"..thanks for the update.
I can see why you might want to nudge him to settle into his transfer school in sophomore year and yet since he was so grand and showed so much maturity about doing well at Bates before returning to Tulane after Katrina, I can see why he wants to delay! You have a great son.
Anyway..plug for Nashville here where we used to live and work and study. It is a really fabulous warm wonderful town and Vanderbilt sits real pretty in it. Lots of great jobs, internships and a very peppy economy all around. Great place to be young, believe me when I say that and a very misunderstood city until you live there.

Oh Andi, what a great ending to your story! Best wishes for 4 wonderful years for Andison. You have the admiration of many of us here for the grace you have shown throughout the last year. MIT is lucky to have your S and your S is lucky to have you!

jmmom-Hang in there, we're all rooting for a happy ending for you and jmson.

Andi:
So real-life stories do have happy endings, after all. Great to hear about AndiSon and MIT.

Twinmom ....well let's see.... they could be chatting and the subject of web forums could come up and one of them could say 'yeah, my mother posted my entire life story on one of those sites...'

Andi, Gotta add my own "Congratulations!" You have a super kid there and it is so nice to see things turn out so well for you after last year. Thank you for sharing your experiences with all of us here in the cyber world. I can't imagine how many people you have helped, inspired, guided, etc just by sharing your own personal situation. Your "What Happened . . ." post should be mandatory reading for all future parents and students. And your final victorious outcome should also be a mandatory read. Very, very happy for the Andison family!!

Thanks :) Believe me it feels GOOD to be DONE!

No jmmom of course not!! What would you have to worry about?? But now that most of us are done --Kat's son -- eh hem--- we're all free to be your exclusive cheering section!!!!!!!!!

My D woke up, decided to stop moping, settled on William & Mary, got asked to Prom, found the perfect Prom dress and Graduation Party outfit, and UNLOADED THE DISHWASHER - all in the same day.

Merblajam LOL!! How simple it all can be. Those are the days when life is indeed good. I loved your post.
