Good bye CC :’(

A very good friend of mine got into MIT, Harvard, UPenn, Dartmouth and Williams (Yes, this is true and he is a Nepali). I am very very happy for him. He is not from a big name school here but, he nailed it. He is an inspiration for all of us. Good luck everyone.

There is no such thing as a big name school. If he’s proved anything, it’s that there is no name school and anyone from anywhere can get it – the person just has to be deserving.

hats off to the guy…

WOW! I just awed for more than a minute seeing post#102.

@hangover 2012 Was he also in second gap year?

A fren of mine, Nepali olympian fm Lincoln is accepted at Babson, Barnard,Brown & Columbia; wait-listed at Wharton-Upenn & Harvard.

Has anybody heard of a good placement earned by someone in his second gap year?
Actually,I have to choose between taking another gap year(as I hab already had one) and preparing for Pulchowk.
I’m really interested in Computer Science and I know Nepal has so less to offer in the field.
What I’m expecting you CCers to suggest is,SHOULD I CHOOSE THE FORMER? IS IT WORTH WAITING ANOTHER YEAR BEFORE I FINALLY START?

@nepaliwriter

To my knowledge, a guy with second gap year got in Williams, Swarthmore and Sarah Lawrence two years back. He is attending Swarthmore now.

If you can spend next year fruitfully, second gap year is worth it. But if you get in Jacobs this year, do not consider this.

In fact, I may also consider this option if things do not go well for remaining decisions.

So no trinity in RD. Anybody waitlisted?

I know three. Why? I don’t think it’s going to make a difference though.

What about Grinnell? How many are waitlisted in Grinnell?

@nepaliwriter

I also waited two years, before I finally came to Trinity. For me, it turned out, waiting those two years was the best decision in my life. There are reasons why I said that. But, it is risky…So, my suggestion (if you wanna take it) is that join KU’s Computer Engineering program, (or, Pulchowk) and apply again to colleges next year. Just don’t simply wait for another year doing nothing. All the best. I know that pain, but it is what it is…we have no option. (Or, apply to Indian Embassy Scholarship. If you really wanna do CS, then doing Undergraduate in Nepal/India and coming to US for Graduate School is not bad option.)

waitlisted at STANFORD!

@nepaliwriter:: You are wrong about the CS scope in Nepal. Actually, if I had an interest in CS, I would have never apply to US. Even Google is entering in Nepal as “Google Developers”. I attended the google meeting here in Nepal last month. So, the main point is that here is a great scope for CS. The main reason for applying is to complete Physics in actually 4 YEARS.

Finally,hard work did pay.
