College Acceptances Class of 2017

Is $15000(including insurance and expenses) per year for a good, top ranked, Liberal arts college a good bargain? Considering my EFC was $8000 per year.

I don’t want to name the college as of now. But it’s ranked one of the top colleges on US NEWS & World Report.

My other acceptances include:
Ithaca college ( have to pay around 20,000)
Manhattan College ( bleh!)
College of Wooster( okay~ish aid)
Ramapo College ( aid sucks)
Caldwell College ( full tuition )

If you can afford it without much pangs to your family condition … go for it… it would be awesome…

The colleges total cost of attendance is around $46,000. I have to pay around $15000 including all expenses. Only if they could give extra $2000- $3000 scholarship. I could easily afford it.

only college that even remotely compares with your ‘top ranked LAC’ in aforementioned list is ‘College of Wooster’ probably… but I am not too sure about that…

If it is only about 2k or 3k, I’d suggest you write to their offices of admission and financial aid and mention that you are keen on enrolling… and that is the one thing stopping you from doing that… BTW, any top liberal arts college must be need-based and shouldn’t tell you to pay anything that your family will have trouble paying…

Acceptedted :Jacobs.

Students that got into jacobs… How much are your merit Scholarships?

I can’t really say what my merit scholarship value is since I haven’t yet received my financial aid package. However,I had an e-mail this morning from Jacobs that mentions that I have been awarded Jacobs University Scholarship of €15,000. If you meant to inquire the same, that’s it.

Just out of curiosity,Have you been accepted, too?
If yes,why don’t you update the acceptances list?

@ nepaliwriter
I have been accepted into Jacobs too. But, they haven’t notified me of their aid decision yet. I did A level from KA. What’s your story? Have you decided to enroll?

I won’t be attending Jacobs since I have already commited to atttend Wesleyan University. No regrets. Wesleyan has met my full need and it’s far bettter than Jacobs :)

Great set of acceptances! I will be attending Pomona College.

Though I did hear that there were some unjustified acceptances this year. I really do not understand why colleges pick an average, perhaps even arrogant candidate over a truly intelligent one but oh well, I guess that’s just life. However, these people will realize in College that they certainly did not deserve to be admitted to the fantastic places they will be attending as they will be incapable of handling the rigor of those colleges, and in contrast to their peers, will be essentially nothing.

I also have been accepted to Jacobs and have received same merit aid as nepaliwriter. As per my info, they will soon provide need based award. However, I still have a document to send before I receive their need based award.

Jacobs- Chelsea(3), BNKS(1) as well

nepaliketo
ur post suggest that ur more arrogant than people ur referring to and jealous of others achievements too

While I am not modest about my accomplishments, my post presents only an objective analysis. And how do you even know who I’m referring to? According to what I’ve gathered, there were two unjustified acceptances this year - and this claim comes from my familiarity with those people’s circumstances and their profiles. Some very fine candidates were denied in their favor, and this is something I want everyone to be aware of - especially future applicants.

Is anybody coming to Bard College, NY?

@Nepaliketo (post no. 150)

Everyone has a wish to attend his or her dream college, which leads them to apply to those colleges. An applicant does his best in his part to make sure he or she has a shot at admission.

Everything that happens after he or she clicks the submit button IS NOT under his or her control. May be admission officers like the applicant and find him or her the better fit than other INTELLIGENT( that what you said) candidates. So, it is useless having detest of candidates whose wishes to attend their dream colleges have come true.

I haven’t expressed any kind of detestation of anyone. That wasn’t the point behind my post. Though it is up to you as to how you interpret it (it is, as I said, objective analysis), I just want to have future applicants be aware of the fact that such things happen every year, and that even if they do not match up academically to their competitors, it is possible that things may swing their way. Also, even if they are admitted, it is quite possible that they won’t be able to live up to the rigor of the academics at that place as this is something that has happened many times in the past (a person dropping out of Swarthmore comes to mind, amongst others).
