Wow...what a weight has been lifted off our shoulders! She got into Roosevelt and Hartt for MT! Now we can wait for the others without my heart pounding every time she goes to the mailbox!

Oh yeah, and a no from Otterbein...but it didn't sting as bad because of the acceptances.

Hunter, I don't know you but I am very impressed by your acceptance into CMU for MT and I hope you enjoy this moment of affirmation and excitement.

Catsmom...YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! All right! Yes! What joy and relief for your daughter (and you, too) that no matter what comes along now.....rejections, whatever, she has gotten into two programs ! It just changes the whole outlook. She has a choice no less. Well it must be a happy day at your house. She hung in there and now is reaping this joy of a positive outcome. I am really happy for you guys. I don't know much about Roosevelt. While my D did not apply to Hartt, I have been to Univ. of Hartford as my older brother went to college there (not Hartt, though). Enjoy this moment and give your daughter our best.

Oh Catsmom -

What great news!! I couldn't be happier. Hug your D and sleep through the night........

I'm grinning ear to ear!

I have been reading this discussion for about a year and a half and have never posted . . . I feel the need to reply to the Syracuse and Ithaca admissions questions. My son got a phone call on March 7th from Syracuse, letter later that week. He got a merit award letter a few days later and the full financial aid package early this week. He auditioned/applied to Ithaca at the same time (auditioned early Dec.) and has yet to hear a thing from them. I don't know if this means anything at all, as far as your admissions info goes, but thought I should share our experiences. Also accepted to UArts in Feb., 3 weeks after auditioning.

Regarding the Syracuse and Ithaca question...another experience: Syracuse, very similar to GrMom....phone call on March 8, followed by letter late that week. Merit award a few days after that. Financial aid a few days after THAT.

Ithaca, however, she heard of the acceptance (thin envelope) two weeks following the audition, which she did at the end of January. My recollection with Ithaca was that they said the students would hear in two weeks, so I know that WAS her case but from others' experiences, maybe that was not. I think the Merit Scholarship came with the acceptance. Financial aid came later.

I know others who have not heard from Syracuse either. I know someone else accepted recently at Ithaca, however.

Catsmom-
Congrats to you and your D! How sweet it is!!!

Welcome grmom! Glad you decided to post. Congratulations to you and your son!

I think at Ithaca they said some people would hear quickly one way or the other and that others would be "held" until around now. I did call them a couple of weeks ago and they said it was not unusual for a decision not to be made until as late as mid-April. I have seen on this thread many who have already heard, both ways, so it's tough to gauge. This whole process can be maddening . . . at least he's had a couple acceptances. To audition and not hear anything for months is frustrating!

A girl who takes from my voice teacher and goes to my school (a belter) found out today that she got in to CMU MT. I think she looked online to find out, we're on the west coast so she hasn't gotten her letter yet. Just thought I'd let ya know!

I saw your post and my D is in the same boat. She did not get accepted into the BFA program she THOUGHT she really wanted. After the audition, she was not as enamored with the program as she was going into the audition...didn't really feel the faculty and students were people she would mesh with. After much thought, pursued BA program and after contacting them - fell in love with them. She is much happier to know that she will continue the academics and be honing her craft.

Syracuse is telling people in batches, I called when I didn't hear a couple weeks ago. They said they'll have told everyone in a couple of weeks, so if you haven't heard, it doesn't mean anything!

I have lurked on this form for about a year. Like everyone else I have found it very informative. I have a son in the freshman MT class at Michigan. Before the end of his senior year in High School I was in the dark about how hard it is to be excepted into a MT BFA program(fortunately) and my husband and I questioned BFA vs BA, after a year I will tell you we are very happy with his choice and are very thankful he received the opportunity. He did not play the piano or have any music theroy before this fall-so if you are looking at a BFA I highly reccomend beginning both as soon as possible

Where in California are you located?

wct - haha I should have been more specific - I live in Washington state, I guess I should have said Northwest, my mistake!

Catsmom,

That's wonderul news!!!!

If you decide on Hartt, and need any info on that area, please let me know. We only live around 45 minutes away from Hartford. We also know a MT faculty member and a current female student.

We are so happy for you.

Freelance - Thanks! I may take you up on that offer. How does your friend (the student) like the program?

Hi guys, I got accepted to Ithaca for MT a few weeks ago and received a letter from NYU saying that i was some sort of Tisch Scholar and was invited to spend a day at NYU touring the campus meeting the teachers, etc.. but I have yet to receive my acceptance letter from NYU, does anyone know what this means?

and #2, both of these schools were pretty high on my list.. does anyone have any idea on which one that I should be leaning toward? thanks!!

PS - I've got friends who have all heard from Roosevelt, Otterbein, OU, CMU, and Hartt for all of you who are waiiting!! crosses fingers
