Congrat's on those of you getting into that very difficult CMU program!

NYU - great that so many of you have heard from them, and Susie, that scholarship is outstanding!!!!!! I would only hope for a fraction of that!

ilmomsk - U Mich - I also tried to send you an e-mail and couldn't open up your address. We loved the Michigan program when we visited in the fall (with my junior son). Congrat's, as that one is also super competitive. Same with BW (and I'm sure PSU, but we haven't visited there) - wow - you have a talented daughter! I noticed on Michigan's web site that they have a news article about the Arthur Miller theatre they are building. The same building (Walgreen, I think it is called) will house the theatre and MT departments. It looks pretty nice.

Yep, it does. So now, do you know who I am talking about? I think he recognized you and is the Izzy from California? I will have to sort through these boards and figure out who else is from CAP21 and where they are going, unless you have the stats. I directed him to this site now, so he will follow. Also, if you private message me and want his email if you don't have it, I'm sure he would love to hear from you guys!

Congratulations to all who've posted good news thus far! I've been reliving last years's agony of watching the mailbox as Apr. 1 approached. And I recall how incredible it was when my son got the NYU acceptance (with some $).
Thank you all for posting. The suspense is still amazing. Please know that you have a lot of lurkers out here pulling for you.

Tissssssssssch ... i cant stop saying Tisssssssssssssssssch ... theres room for a short jewish chick afterall at ... Tissssssssssssssssssssssssssch ... WEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yay Notarebel! You go girl! It's one of the many joys of the world of performing arts - there is room for wondrous diversity, for Thesbos and Notarebels, for any and all with passion, drive and love of the game. See me smile? :D

There is tons of information about Steinhardt all over these threads, especially in the archives, where you can easily do a search. Although my D decided to go to Michigan (she's a freshman MT this year) she applied and was also accepted to Steinhardt last year. I did quite a bit of research on the program and posted a lot of what I found out. I would be happy to help with any specific questions you or your D have if you want to email me. I will say, although you probably know this already, that my antennae went up when I read that your D has "her heart set" on Steinhardt. Given the competitive nature of this process, setting your heart on any one place can be problematic. If you've followed the saga of Soozievt's D, you'll see the benefits of helping your D widen her search. Not that she shouldn't be passionate about a program she loves - she just may need help learning to fall in love with more than one place, just in case. Best of luck to you both!

Does anyone have any feedback on this program? Do you know anyone that has graduated from there, or currently in the program. How does it
compare to CMU? Which would you choose, if you were accepted to both?
We visited the campus, and really liked it. Any feedback would be
appreciated.

bjpjmom- I have a friend who is a freshman there right now. She loves the program. I don't know much about it except that its a cut program (she says its not as scary as it sounds) and that she is getting great training and loves the school and the campus community.

bjpjmom-
It appears from those I have talked to that CMU leans more heavily toward acting/singing/dancing in that order than does CCM.

This type of decision really is very personal to the student who is choosing the program. Both are fine programs who have successful alumni. There has been much talk on this thread about CCM's cut process. You should read all you can and talk to as many as you can about any program, but the bottom line is, there are very satisfied students at each of these schools. My S for one is at CMU, (second year) and the friend that singinizzy mentioned is a student from his HS, (where I also teach) who is very happy at CCM. She was on the priority waitlist for CMU last year but did not get off the list.

It goes to show you that more often than not students end up in a place that is good for them and where they will thrive.

Notarebel,
Any school that would turn down a short Jewish chick like you who can act and dance her butt off and sit down at the piano and effortlessly nail any random song in the Aretha Franklin catalogue is CRAZY. You beeza POWAHOUSE!!! I'm so proud. :) Now are you finally gonna believe it when we tell you how much you rawk? <3 <3 <3 <3

The only other CAP21ers I know on this board are Cadget, CollegeBound87, myself and Dani.

And one (mainly lurker) Mom from the Pacific Northwest. My D was in Dani and Cadget's acting and vocal performance classes (and is currently a junior in HS)
Seems like CAP 21's summer program is well represented here!

Okay... well here's the thing, so many people are saying that Michigan called them on Friday, March 25, and I was wondering what day all of you people auditioned. Did you guys audition in NYC on March 5, and get the call 3 weeks after you auditioned? Or did you guys audition on March 11 in Ann Arbor. Well I auditioned on March 11, and I have yet to get a letter of either acceptance or rejection. Just let me know, it's my top choice school, and I'm waiting like a fool not knowing if I still can hope to get in, or if I'm waiting for a rejection letter. Tomorrow is exactly 3 weeks after my audition, so maybe they'll call me... :\

Well if it falls through, I got into Tisch yesterday, so yay, and I got into Northwestern on Monday, so I'll have other options. It just sucks, because I felt that I had an AMAZING audition in Ann Arbor, and if I don't get in, I'll have no idea what they're looking for... okay... someone that got a phone call please respond to me! Thanks!

Our son Jake just got a yes on Boston Conservatory. So far it yes BOCO, Emerson, Hartt, and UTampa, and no for CCM. Waiting for Tisch and CMU.

Has anyone heard about honors from Emerson? Jake got a letter from the Financial Aid office which mentioned a Stafford loan, but there was no direct answer about his honors application. Will we get a separate letter about it?

JerryLaurie, congrats are in order for your son on his BOCO acceptance. I guess that means that decision will be in our box tomorrow ;-).

As far as Honors College at Emerson, not sure exactly the story and my D's case is different than your son's but she did apply to Honors College there but I recall back in Dec. when she got accepted to the college (was deferred until April for the BFA in MT), I was told that the decision with regard to Honors College would come during the April 1 round. My D has a close friend here at school who got in also in Dec. and applied to Honors College and has yet to hear on that part of the acceptance yet either (nor financial aid).

OneBizGlory, someone posted who got a call for an acceptance at UM for MT very recently, that they auditioned back in November. My daughter's close friend got the call about acceptance into UM last week and he auditioned on Jan. 14 and had been deferred. Hope that helps. Good luck. If possible, try not to pin all your hopes on any one particular school when they are taking so few. UM is a fantastic program but I bet you could be happy at many others so keep that in mind.

theatermom: See you at the showcase on Sunday!

Soozievt: All my best goes to you and your daughter. I read about the accident awhile back and I am thrilled she is pulling through. You've been in my thoughts and prayers. And.......that scholarship! WOW!

To everyone: Congratulations on all of the acceptances so far. You've done great work! We old timers know how difficult it can be.

I got waitlisted at Syracuse today for MT. Not surprised that I didn't get accepted, I had a horrible audition, but a waitlist is better than nothing!

Jerrylaurie, congrats to your son on BoCo! That means I should hear within the next few days, but I think it's a bit of a reach for me.

Emerson decided to wait until this past Monday to tell me that they don't have my transcript, even though they told me they had it two months ago. So I may not be hearing back from them until May. Ugh!

Congrats to all the acceptences from these last few days! We sure have a talented bunch on this site!!
