College acceptances

aaah! congrats Broadway32nd...I'm in awe :)

Everyone is so so supportive, thank you all, I really appreciate it! Susan, how could I possibly forget?! I was a total nervous WRECK even just last night! Sometimes I wonder if I really have strength enough for this cutthroat business. Deep down, I believe I do. Otherwise I wouldn't be here. It's just easy to loose confidence sometimes. but if anyone can toughen my skin, CCM can

Broadway32nd-
I'll add my congrats too! Now you've gone and done it, you're gonna have to make a decision...you've added more stress to your life! (Just kidding of course- THAT'S WONDERFUL!) Its so great to hear of success for any of the kids on here. We parents know how hard you all work and how crazy you make yourselves. Way to Go!!!

Broadway32nd , mtfan, lynm and others:
Fantastic! What an affirmation of your talents! Hope your good luck spreads to all.......

Broadway 32nd did you get into Michigan?

Officially deferred today from UMich. I can't say I'm not disappointed, but I was honestly expecting worse. It was definitely my worst audition. I got that skinny little envelope in the mail and I thought 'this is it, my streak of good luck has ended.' Still kind of unfortunate, apparently many people are deferred; but if this is the worst news I've had to deal with thus far, I'll endure it with [whatever possible] cheer. How about you Marbare? thinking positive thoughts!!

My son auditioned 1/14 and just found out they rejected him. Too bad! Good luck to you though with your deferral

Auditioned on 1/14 as well, and I seem to be one of the few who still hasn't heard . . . and apparently I still have a while (no decision has been made about me according to admissions). But congrats to you Broadway32nd on your deferral!

I just got my first decision from a college. Got accepted to Marymount Manhattan. It's not my first choice, but it is still really nice to know that I'll at least be going somewhere next year.

Congrats Oscar! I know someone who goes there and loves it; initials CS. If you decide to go there, maybe I can get you in touch with her.

D just finished the Baldwin Wallace (In Berea, Ohio just a few min south of Cleveland for all you new ppl reading and not posting...I know a few of you...lol) auditions this past weekend. Saw a few ppl there that were at other auditions. For those of you who may want the latest numbers, they said they will see well over 100 and will take 15, most likely same number of guys and girls. They are now finished auditioning and the letters will be out by March 15th. These folks know how to treat people. They took the kids and parents separate for the whole day, and kept parents busy with tours, speakers including a student panel, sitting in on a master choreography class, complementary lunch (In one of the places that the kids can eat, buffet style, and wonderful), and student musicians and voice majors doing a mini-concert. They gave us a printed up parent schedule and we followed and bobbled from place to place. We loved the program and my D felt that she would be a truly a musician/actor/dancer coming out of this program. She is so hoping for this one. They do a showcase with a few other schools, (I forget who all they said) but only the best seniors do this and they are chosen based on the work they do at their senior recital. The campus is beautiful (can only imagine this spring and fall with all the trees) and it is a very short ride to Cleveland. We talked to some ppl who told us there is a concerted effort to get the school away from being a suitcase school. (Everyone goes home on the weekends.) This is not, however, the case with the musical theater majors or other music majors, just seems so for the rest of the campus. They have bus trips to Cleveland to see shows, etc on the weekend now. I have to get ready for church, but if anyone wants more info on the school, etc, just ask- Anyone hear anything else lately?

Mama02girlz,
Was there a dance audition at B-W? If so, was it ballet, jazz, etc.? Thanks!

Anyone else accepted at FSU, or know anyone that was accepted?

MTaussie, perhaps they switch it up from one audition to the next but my dance audition for BW was very hip-hop-y, with jazz influence. I found it, surprsingly, one of the more challenging dance calls. Odd, considering it's not a very dance concentrated school. Hope this helps!

That's how my audition dance was when I auditioned (2/19) so Im guessing that they were all the same. Yah It was pretty difficult, but also a lot of fun! Mama02girlz, did they say that we'll have them by the 15th, or that theyll be sent out by then? Also how many guys were at the audition?

Hey Everyone,
Yes, there was a one hour dance audition. My D said she thinks there were about 40-50 people in the audition total, because the dancers were divided into groups of 7 and there were either 6 or 7 groups. There were less than 10 guys, and there were not many "really strong" dancers in the entire group. Unfortunately for my D whose strength is her dance, we got the impression they don't really count the dance for much at all. They said everyone starts at the same level for dance classes. One girl told us she had to leave early and couldn't do the dance portion and they said to not worry about it, it would not affect her outcome?! Maybe she was so awesome they knew they wanted her (hopefully for her). My D said that the music for the dance audition sounded like model runway music and it was a "sexy jazzy" dance. They told them to "go with the music" and improvise at the beginning when the intro was playing and the choreographed part hadn't started yet. D agreed that it was one of the more "fun" dance numbers and for her, fun usually means difficult for a non-dancer. There were a few other girls there whose strength was dance, and they agreed with you, Broadway32nd.
Oh, the master class I mentioned earlier was so awesome to watch. All the parents wished that they could have had their kids sit in on it. The teacher taught the kids how to assess what a choreographer is actually looking for, and little cues on things they say, and what they really mean. It was really enlightening.
Is everyone ready for the big snow??? No school tomorrow for sure. Yeah!!!

Oh yeah, mtfan, they said the decisions would be made by the 15th, so what that means for the sending out of the letters, I don't know.

Bwaybound09,

Are you telling us you got an acceptance call from FSU? I'd love to know. I have a freshman D in the program.

Oh no, not me. One of my friends got an acceptance call last week, and I think he's going to go.

I just got into BW!!! I'm 3 for 4, with Baldwin-Wallace, Millikin and Point Park(acting). I'm still waiting for Otterbein, Hartt and Syracuse
