FYI- friend of mine (guy) got a call from Syracuse on Tuesday, that he got into the MT program, but he has already accepted to Buffalo. Good luck to everyone waiting to hear. GTG

Congratulations everyone - it is exciting to read about all the good news each day!

Broadway 32nd - I was so pleased to read your recent post, (it sounded exactly like what my d would have said). You sound like a person who has done her research and know what she needs and what she wants!

shortnsweet -
that is interesting that your friend got a phone call from Syracuse?
Was he rd?
If Syracuse does things the same way they have the last couple years, everyone should be hearing very soon. They usually get the letters out by mid-March. Good luck!

Tisch hopefuls-
For the last three years (the years that I have been involved) Tisch has sent out invitations some time in March inviting students to an Admissions Event in April to honor outstanding students. This came before any official notification. Three years ago this was very exciting but confusing for us because we weren't sure what to make of it. I stumbled onto the NYU Bulletin Board and was able to verify that this in fact meant she was accepted and good news was coming her way. The last two years we have been able to ease some of our friends anxiety by confirming this information and sending them to the bulletin board. The administration will not post anything until the invites are sent out, so it probably won't have any info for another week or two. Some of you may already be familiar with this, but for those who are not I wanted to try to keep your anxiety levels down at least a notch.
Keep in mind that this was common in the last three years - things could always change. The best way to keep updates would be to check the NYU bulletin board every few days. Good luck everyone!

studio7,

yes he did do RD. They actually left a message on his answering machine, congratulating him and that he will be receiving his letter in the next week.

shortnsweet-
thanks for the response. Congratulations to your friend and to yourself!!!

wait-so does that mean that I didn't get syracuse cause they havent called?

jesseinstein,

No I wouldn't say that. To be honest I can't figure out any of these college procedures, they are all so inconsistent. I got an email from them myself (early decision). So I would wait and stay positive.

I hate this waiting! I dreamt about carnegie mellon last night... it's actually sad-I've been feeling physically sick lately becase of the college stuff. Can't stop thinking about it! Any tips to get your mind off of it?

I would like to lessen the anxiety level a little bit as well. My daughter is currently a very happy freshman at NYU/Tisch/CAP21. She got there regular decision and received a small scholarship as well.

She did not, however, receive an invitation to last March's "Admissions Event." I was silently panicking at the time. Called the admissions dept. about this so-called invitation and the person said, "if an applicant doesn't get an invitation to this event - that doesn't imply that they did not get admitted" ... (kin of wordy, but, that was what she said!!)

Good luck everyone!
-mtheatremom

Thanks mtheatremom for adding that info. I did not mean to imply that you must receive an invitation to receive an offer.
So there was not a lot of misunderstanding, I was trying to encourage using the bulletin board where information like this is talked about and answered. The board is a good way to ask any questions you might have and gain a lot of information from other student's questions and answers.
Glad your d is enjoying her first year. Two of my d's very close friends are also in Cap 1st year!

Hello all! If you're referring to the Sunday in the Square event, this should in no way discourage NYU applicants who haven't heard, or been invited. This event is for the very top students in the applicant pool, and they're invited to come visit early so that NYU may wine and dine them, with the intent that they'll convince them to attend. Many others will be admitted who will not be invited to this event. Just a few more weeks, people! :)

jessenstein,
What I did was to say to myself (regularly) that I don't have much control over it after the audition and if I wound up somewhere I didn't like I would transfer, even if I had to start over as a freshman the next year and my parents supported that. I also considered staying home taking nonmatricilated(sp) classes and going to the City weekly for dance and voice and doing this all over again next year if I didn't get anything I wanted. It made me feel better knowing I had other options. Don't worry and good luck.

I second what shortnsweet says, there are lots of options. Although I've heard rumors that some colleges look down on people taking a year off, I don't see the problem with taking a year off to train and then just try over again if you just can't see yourself in any of the places you've been accepted to. I know a girl who during her senior year knew she wasn't strong enough to audition at the top colleges for classical voice and decided to take a year off and train and this year is a happy Julliard freshman. And of course there is the wonderful option of transfering. You'll eventaully be able to end up someplace that is right for you.

thanks for the encouraging words-I'm just going crazy waiting!

About the invitation to NYU, if you are already accepted ED, will you still be invited? If it's what you say, to entice you to accept, I guess that's a no!!

rossji, no, unfortunately, they do not include the E.D. acceptees at either Sunday in the Square or at the admitted student days in April.

Found out I was accepted to UCLA today. It went up online four days early! Anyone else accepted to UCLA?

WOW!!!! That is so awesome!! Congrats; that's so hard to get into!!

Congratulations Collegebound87 on UCLA and U of A!

I just checked my D's status and I COMPLETELY DON'T BELIEVE THAT SHE GOT IN to UCLA theater.

She's sleeping now but she'll have quite a surprise when she wakes up. I just DO NOT believe this. The only thing that could have got her in had to be her essays and interview/portfolio. Her SATs, to be frank, were horrible. Her grades were decent but not stellar. We felt there was no way in H she had a chance here.

Can I say again I don't believe this? I'm going to be in a daze today.

TaraMom and Collegebound87 - CONGRATULATIONS!!!!!!! That's so terrific!
