I want to apply to Purdue University. I'm a little worried though. I was wondering if you can still get rejected from the college even if you meet all the requirements (e.g. you meet the SAT score requirement, GPA, class rank, etc). What are the main factors that colleges look at when accepting a student? And is it possible for one to still be rejected even if they meet the standards for admission.

THANK U SO MUCH! I'm really nervous about these college apps...senior year is hectic...

Yes, easily. It depends what you mean by meeting the requirements, though. If you’re in the top 25%, you can probably consider it a safe bet. However, if you only meet the middle average, it’s very possible to be rejected, considering 50% of students will have higher scores than you.

Course rigor, extracurriculars, talents, recommendations, etc are all other things that will be a factor.

Very important admission factors:
Application Essay
Rigor of secondary school record
Standardized Test Scores

Important admission factors:
Class Rank
Academic GPA

Considered:
Alumni Relation
Character/Personal Qualities
Extracurricular Activities
Geographical Residence
Racial/Ethnic Status
Recommendations
State Residency
Volunteer Work
Work Experience
First generation college student
