College Admission with GED

Hello,

Four years ago I dropped out of high school during my sophomore year and got my GED. The one and only reason for this is that I suffer from PTSD and could barely leave the house most days. Between my freshman and sophomore year I attended maybe 1/2 a year worth of school total and as you can imagine my GPA was abysmal. I'm in a good place now and ready to go back to school but am not sure what my options besides community college are.

I have 10 years worth of perfect standardized testing scores, a score of 2300+ on the SAT, and while I haven't taken it i'm confident in my ability to score 33+ on the ACT.

I guess what i'm wondering here is what my chances of getting into a non-community college are on testing scores alone? Is there any kind of system that helps people with PTSD? I'd like to get into university of washington and all around bypass community college since I need to pursue a PH.D and I feel like going to a CC is going to make everything take longer then it should.

If you want to get into the University of Washington, contact them directly with your situation. You would be considered a non-traditional student, and they have different standards for those. If that doesn’t work out, CC doesn’t have to take longer. If you take the proper courses during those two years, you will receive full credit for your work and enter a four-year college as a junior. Good luck.
