SAT can be a lot to worry about since you can do well on one section but really bad on the other. I think many people like the ACT because it's just one #. I know that there are scale conversions, but do colleges sometimes look down upon you if you try to get out of the SAT with a 28-30? That range is like a 1260 to a 1350 on the 1600 scale). A 30 could be the same as a 760 M and a 590 CR, and I'm sure that colleges would want to know how you do overall. Do they get to see your individual sections, or just that one # which has so much depth but gives them so little?

they see each section score(english 32 math 31 etc.) and the composite...and if you take the writing, of course they see that too...so if youre question is do they just see the composite score---the answer is No, they see everything.

But they still put more emphasis on the composite because that's what the ACT is about. Colleges don't really focus on the 1400 or the 1500, they weigh the CR and M sections(that's what they publish when they submit their Freshman Scores). But for ACT scores, the composite is mostly what they publish.

I got a 1900 on the January SAT, which is good(not great), but my CR might deny me from some colleges. I don't think colleges would care too much if you get 35,36,33,and a 27 Reading since the composite will be high in the end.

They'll care just as much as they would if you pulled similar scores on the SAT. On both tests, schools see numbers for each subject, and a number that demonstrates overall competency/reasoning ability. They see an ACT composite and an SAT total. In the end, it'll be just the same if you bomb the CR on either test--colleges will see it, and will probably care.

Study up.

hi i just got a 32 on the act and im thrilled.

31 english
36 reading
30 Math
30 science
compared to my 1320/1600 sat. 680 Math, 640 reading

However two schools im looking at Virginia Tech and Georgia Tech say they only look at the english and math part which were some of my lower scores. Does this mean that i really didn't do any better on the act. i mean doesnt a 680 look better than a 30 on math, and a 640 look the same compared to a 31 english.

any help would be great.
