College admissions assistance

What’s the deal with the interview is it a scam can we make like an over the phone interview

Why/how would it be a scam?

I’m confused as to how you think an interview could be a scam…

In general, admissions interviews are utilized to help the school learn a little more about you that may not be seen on your app. These can either be done on-campus (at some schools) or by meeting with an alumni. They have very little bearing on your final admission decision.

If there are extenuating circumstances…you might be able to do a phone interview. My kiddo was supposed to have an in person interview but the schedule got changed. She was unable to go on the new date. Her interview was with the enrollment manager…who very nicely offered to do it over the phone.

He was traveling across the country…and was supposed to be nearby. Instead…he was over two hours away…on a weeknight.

When I go to the website to register it says that it’s a scam I don’t know I went ahead and scheduled it but have no idea how I’m supposed to get to Stockton it’s taking every thing I’ve got to get her the money she needs and I’m still not sure if I an get it all

So Iif I don’t go then it won’t affect my child’s financial aid because she. Got accepted to Stan state wich is a huge deal for me I’m a single mother. Of 4 never been to college and want the best for my daughter but I’m having the hardest time getting the money she needs for her deposit and registration it all has added up to like 600. I’m at 100. And that’s because I’ve been dumpster diving for recycling yes it’s very imbaresing but I will do what ever to make sure she gets to go

If you cannot afford to send her for the interview, can you contact the school and see if they can interview your daughter over the phone or Skype???

Also was school is Stan state?

What interview costs $600 to register for?

Agree with Madison85. What interview costs $600 to register for? Also, I assume you mean CalState at Stanislaus by Stan State. On their website, it does not give information about interviews and definitely does not say they require an interview. If your child can’t afford to go to her interview, it will not affect her acceptance. However, if the interview is for a scholarship, she may not qualify for whatever it is they’re considering her for, and since you can’t pay $600, I assume you’ll need financial aid and scholarships so I’d call the school and ask.

I don’t think Stan State requires or has interviews for admission. That may be a scam.

Can you show us the website link. Do not pay anything.

As for her deposit and registration. It sounds like you may be Pell grant eligible. If so, then call the school because many will waive those costs for Pell Grant students.

I’m guessing that you’re a Calif resident. make sure that your child does what’s needed to qualify for a Cal Grant. She can talk to her GC for details and deadlines about submitting what’s needed. Between the Cal Grant and Pell Grant, and student loans, and work study, she may have much/all covered. Remind your child to get a summer job and save for add’l college costs.

It seems to me that someone’s trying scam this person out of $600 for some phony assistance they don’t need.

What is the $600 for? In the above post #5 it says it’s for registration and deposit.

No no I’m sorry the interview isn’t costing 600 it’s just in Stockton I don’t have a car and the 600 is for the housing deposit well 250 for the housing then 75 for the registration 200 for enrollment 20$ for test and that’s not including getting her there and back that may seem like nothing to some people but I’m already behind in my bills and I will do what ever it takes to get her into this college

What is the purpose of the interview?

To help determine college ad mission and financial aid eligibility it’s going to assist her I’m not sure I went to www.caaworkshop.com to register her it had comments that suggested it was a scam

@Mishelle444 - I don’t have much advice regarding the interview… But I wanted to commend you for working so hard for your daughter to get a college education. There are a lot of very informed people on College Confidential and I know you’ll get some good advice. It sounds very difficult for you to get through your day-to-day life, but you want more your your daughter! Nice work!!! Sending you well wishes and best of luck.

Thank so much that brought tears to my eyes I do so much want the best for my kids I never even thought of them going to a university and I’ll do what ever it takes thank you so much

I don’t know anything about it but I found this discussion -

I just scanned the link I posted and it appears that this company offers a “free” session where they start trying to sell you on services that aren’t free. I’d avoid it.

Thank you
