College Admissions GPA/SAT Scatter Plot

Thought this might be useful to those who are waiting on admissions like myself. Although this is apparently only a representation of one large high school.

http://sonicpixel.net/ahs05/

This seems like one dominant high school

wheres it located

I played in the Cal All-State Orchestra and I remember the majority of the people there were from this school

wow...lots of ~4.0s

the 4.00/1600 guy got accepted everywhere except stanfurd

Arcadia is the town where Humbolt State is in waaay northern california. The only schools I applied to that these kids applied to were Wellesley, some UCs, Scripps, Santa Clara and Occidental. It made me a little sad.

Who the hell wants to go to Stanford anyways? I'd go to Wharton with a 4.0/1600.

You might have the wrong Arcadia. There's an Arcadia here east of Pasadena in Southern California. Seems like a majority of the applications were to surrounding schools so I'd tend to believe it is this one. Nice city and school around here.

I think he ended up choosing harvard ... go figure

Yah I go to the school in humboldt. Its called Arcata high, Arcadia different. Its confusing because they both go by AHS

does anybody have a more national scatterplot? so we could see how colleges weight GPA compared to SATs?

Yeah that would be useful...

This is good info.

I go to a really prestigious public high school in Northern California. We also have data for classes of 2002 and 2003:

http://www.mvhs.fuhsd.org/careercenter/scatter/catter.html

http://www.mvhs.fuhsd.org/careercenter/scatter2003/scatter.html

Arcadia is near Pasadena. I have plenty of friends that go to that school and someone from Arcadia has shown me that website before.

The school really isn't that prestigious. They just have a lot of Chinese guys.

I live very close to Arcadia and it is certainly one of the public best schools in Los Angeles. Housing around here is quite absurd but its still better than San Marino....

I think that person with the 1600/4.0 is a she. There are definately plenty of amazing students in Arcadia High.

EDIT: Flippy, I find your remark to be quite funny. I am sorry but to me, you seem to be saying "Oh the only reason Arcadia has so many people with high SAT is because most people are Chinese. And Chinese people just studies all day, they are not really that good."

holy crap...some person got into julliard with below a 1200 and 3.5gpa.

must have been an insane musician

yeah, i dont think julliard is looking for nerds as much as for musicians... i think thats why they have auditions.

also, im assuming the first scatters are unweighted gpa while the following ones are weighted

Lol, Sympathy. I'm saying that Chinese ARE that good.

That's why the school does so well, not because the students study like hell.
