Okay, so my accumulative GPA for the first three years of high school is a 3.1. My last SAT score was a 1660 & i'm studying really hard to make AT LEAST above an 1800, aiming for a 2000. What are my chances of earning a scholarship with a low gpa and a high SAT score, or any scholarship at all?

You will probably not get any merit scholarships based on grades/GPA. You can however qualify for need based financial aid, if your family income is low enough.

Talk to your parents and find out how much they can/will pay, and what their income is. Look at school websites and use the naviance to see what costs and potential aid will be.

Admission will be based on your 3.1 cum + one semester of Senior Year. Even if you get a 4.0 that semester you will only raise your GPA to 3.2. That won’t help much.

Well, no, not at schools where the average GPA is 3.5!

So, target schools where the average GPA is lower than yours. Use the Princeton Review website to help you identify those schools, and then visit their websites and see what merit aid might be available.

If you read carefully through the threads on merit aid at the top of this forum, you will find some places that do indeed offer serious money to students with a 3.0. However, most of those places will require that you pull up your SAT score quite a bit (or earn an equivalent ACT score).

Your own guidance counselor should also be able to advise you on merit money for students with your grades and scores. And do take a long hard look at your local community colleges. Ours has several different merit-based scholarships and honors programs with cut-offs around 3.0 that cover the full tuition and fees for both years of an AA, AS, or AAS program.
