Would colleges not accept me if I only take 4 classes in my senior year?
Depends which colleges you’re aiming at.
Any top 100, yes they’d mind.
A directional, probably not if you have 4 years of English and math, 3 years of history and science 2 years of foreign language, and 2-4 more academic classes.
–Competitive colleges like to see a rigorous senior year courseload.
–Have you taken all of the classes recommended/required for every college you plan to apply to?
–Also what are you doing with the rest of your day. If you will be doing research with a professor in a nearby college in an area you plan to major in that is one thing, if you will be home playing video games that is another thing.
–And you wrote in another post that your GPA is low for the schools you want. Taking a rigorous senior year courseload and doing well could help you to strengthen your academic profile.
Thank you for answering! Yes, I have taken all of the classes recommended/required for every college that I plan to apply to. For the rest of my day, I’m spending my time volunteering. The reason why I won’t have a rigorous senior year courseload is because I’m spending my time volunteering.
Then I would agree with @MYOS1634 – if you are looking to gain admission to a competitive college then you should take a stronger academic program and volunteer less. Also be 100% sure that you will meet all of the requirements for HS graduation.
Then take that 5th class and volunteer the rest of the time. (Note that 5 is the MINIMUM expected - 6 or 7 would be considered more rigorous, but if volunteering is a big deal to you and you could make a case, then that’s enough).
