Hi everyone! Would really appreciate some help. I wanna figure out my admission odds, and i would be thankful to hear some pieces of advice regarding colleges to which i might be competitive.

SAT: Verbal 590 Math 700 Writing 560
SAT Subjects: Math Level II 800 Chemistry 670 Physics 650
TOEFL 106

I had been an exchange student in a US high school during my junior year (I won the FLEX scholarship), also I am a winner of a couple of Mathematical Olympiads, I dance Modern Ballet, before I did folk dance in the school ensemble; besides I am the editor in chief of my school's news-paper; I speak English, Russian, Romanian and German; I'm in involved in community service, for example now I'm organizing holidays for children from rural orphanages.

In US I had a 4.0 GPA on a 4 scale, taking AP Calc BC and AP Physics. At home(Moldova) I have a 9.5 on a 10 scale - being the top student of my school.

2 Duygu: I took the SAT twice while in the US, though I think I would score better now, I used the only date offered in Moldova for taking the Subject tests.

Your academic credentials are obviously very good, and the fact that you were able to maintain perfect grades while going on an exchange program works in your favour as well. I am assuming you will be applying for Fall 2008; so as your SAT I scores are a trifle low, try to see if you can retake them.

As for what kind of colleges you should apply to, why not do some digging yourself? If you feel daunted by the prospet of wading through hundreds of college websites, you can use a college search engine, like the one in www.collegeboard.com. Or if you want names here, some specific criteria will help. Do you want a very selective college or a less selective one? A big university or a small college? Is financial aid/scholarships a factor? How about location, weather etc.? Anything that can help narrow down your search.

OK, since I did not receive any precise comments, I'm gonna reveal my college list:
Colby, Columbia, Wellesley, Mount Holyoke, Northwestern, RPI, Duke, Johns Hopkins, Wesleyan, Gettysburg, Trinity and Yale(don't say that my SAT1 is not competetive for Yale, cuz I was adviced to apply there).

So, now, I will eagerly wait for you r comments!!!!

Btw, I was expecting something more helpful from issacnewton, than asking whether Moldova is in Africa!!!!!!

The fact that VERY few students apply from Moldova will work in your favor. During my time at Penn, I have met only one Moldovan student, while I have met several more from most other countries in that region.

lol...just went off the topic..
Well, first of all let me clear an important thing...as I say this in evry chances thread...NONE can clearify ur actual chances, although the case would be different if u ask adcoms or hav an alumni connection...we can only help..
ur TOEFL looks good(which r even more important considering ur SAT CR score)..and as u r a top student then there is no doubt about the academic achievements..as for ur ECs..adcoms knows all about ur country's scenario..so if they r more wider ranged and they r high achievements then others..then u probably hav a fairly good chance in top 20..
U will always b ''adviced'' to apply to evey college which u consider as a good college for u....
And work well on ur essays...they r just as important as ur stats n ECs r...

Thanks issac (do u mind me calling u that way?), I was waiting for you to reply since I noticed that your answers are more ample, than the answers of everyone else.

Hehe..no problem in that. The ''bunny'' thing implies ur a female, but the 'SIGMA' thing really confused me.And yes, about that dancing ballet, I was imagining that how come a male dance a ballet!!!....:D..

i'd say you can also try Lafayette and umm... well, I'm a from Bulgaria and know as a whole those colleges which give the most money for intl students.. cos that's the problem for me... if you don't have problem with money, you're in in many of those, sigmabunny.
i'd say what you've got here is a good list, esp. talking about mt holyoke, wesleyan... about yale-even if you had 2400, I wouldn't be too sure whether they'd admit you or not, so won't speak about it at all, but it's good that you'll give it a try. the number of schools you'll applying to is reasonable, but if you want to ask about some in particaular, i hope i can answer... and, i personally don't like collegeboard's search engine, suggest you use princeton review's.
i think, if you write a good essay, you're in.
oh, and good luck!
