College Anxiety!! What Are My Chances...

Hi! I wanted to get your thoughts on my chances of being accepted to GA Tech, UGA and Georgia State Univ.

-Senior
-Rank: 6 out of 70
-GPA: 3.833
-Academic Average: 91.(something)
-SAT: 1510
-Math: 490
-CR: 520
-Writing: 500

Extra Curricular:
-Marching Band (Percussion)
-Senior Beta
-Student Government
-Mock Trial
-4-H

AP Classes:
-Government
-Biology
-Literature
-Calculus AB
(these are all the AP classes my school offers)

I know GA Tech is a reach so UGA is my fallback and GSU is my fallback-fallback lol.. However, I want to major in Computer Science/Engineering or Architecture and Tech seems to be the best school for those majors in my state. I'm from a small town in south Georgia so I know I'm at a disadvantage when trying to compete with some of the other prospective college students.. I'm also taking the SAT again in October.

What are your thoughts on my chances at these colleges?
Which school would be a good idea to apply early action for?

When did you take the SAT with those scores?

-------------------------------------------If it is to be, it is up to me…

My junior year…

Raise your SAT scores to 1900-2000 and you’ll be in at all of them.

Bump Bump?

Lol… UGA is NOT a fallback with a section score in the 400s… Georgia Tech is an impossible reach with those scores too… Get your SAT up to 1800 to be safe for UGA, and to 2100 to be safe for Georgia Tech… GSU should be right up your alley though, currently.

Raise your SAT to what I told you for the different schools and you should be in though(: Hmm, try the ACT if you’re having difficulty?

Chance me, good people of CC?(: I know, my reaches are unrealistic, but they’re just for closure haha.

Really?? Some of the students who graduated from my school last year had similar scores and got accepted at UGA…

Bumppp…?

you have a chance at UGA but Georgia Tech is definitely a reach.

Not sure why people are telling you to increase your score by 400-600 points, that is unrealistic and doesn’t make sense.
Georgia Tech - High Reach
Georgia - Reach
Georgia State - Don’t really know about this college but I would assume match

Well… What Georgia Schools Do You Guys Suggest That I Apply To, Considering My Stats…

Bumpp??..

Why can’t I go to a school where a kid gets a 1510 and is 6th in his class. And no, unless you raise your score about 400 points, don’t waste your time and money on tech or uga

Well “Sec4Life”… My School Doesn’t Prepare Us At All For The SAT Because The Administrators Are Too Focused On Us Doing Well On Georgia State Tests… And My Scores Were Actually Pretty Good Compared With My Classmates… Not That That Makes It Any Better…

Update: Maybe You Guys Were Right, I Got Deferred By GA Tech And UGA… Oh Well… ):

Mrgraffitti17,

Are you interested at all in LAC’s? If so, how about Birmingham Southern or Hendrix? Also, if female and willing to go single sex, Agnes Scott in Atlanta (looking at it for my daughter next year) is quite good and a place your grades might make up for the lower SAT scores.

Not Really, The Three Schools I Listed Are The Only Ones I’m Interested In At The Moment… So I’m Just Going To Finished The Deferred Student Applications, Study For The SAT And ACT, Take Them, And Hope That My Dream Schools Ultimately Accept Me.

I’m Male BTW…

UPDATE:

I’ve Been Accepted To Georgia State University (EA), MoreHouse College (EA) And The University Of Georgia (Deferred EA, Accepted RA) Even With My Average SAT Scores. I Think My Essays And Possibly My Ethnicity Is What Made UGA Ultimately Accept Me.

I Was Rejected By GA Tech, No Surprise There, But As Time Went On, I Really Started Disliking The School So That Decision Didn’t Really Matter.

To Those With Who Think They Won’t Get Into A College Because Of Their SAT Scores: Don’t Lose Hope! And Don’t Let The Jerks On This Site Tell You That You Need To Raise Your Scores On Each Section By 100 Points.

True that because I haven’t been doing well on sats, thanks for the courage
