I would like your opinion on this because it is driving me crazy! I will not able to apply to colleges until about the end of this year for fall 2010. I have a lot of free time on my hands and the best thing I should do is work but since the economy is so bad, I was thinking of doing some volunteering with the americorps. The thing is that this is a full time commitment and it runs during the crucial time where I need to apply and accept who ever wants me. If I were to do the americorps then do you think I should start doing my applications and essays done before September? (When the program starts).

On the other hand, I could be doing a job search around town and working someplace for a year and a half. This is good so I wont have to worry about applications but it also makes it boring because I am looking for some adventure.

It is hard to pick what to do because I do not want to mess up my applications. I am also looking for something to write about in my applications and the fact that volunteering looks better on an application than working full time? I have no idea how to explain the why on the essays because right now I am taking time off because I basically do not want to be going to school right now. Does it matter what I do? I am trying to be as productive as possible. Besides these extra stuff, I will be graduating with at least a 3.2 GPA. Is that good enough?

That brings up another question. I have one F and one W, how or where would I explain that on a college application?

Help please!
