As I apply to colleges I am becoming overwhelmed with mixed feelings. I thought it might be fun for us all to share some of the worries and feelings we have during this time in our lives.

1 - The idea of duck syndrome scares me to death
2 - Because of my families financial situation, I really want to be accepted to a school that offers good financial aid. These schools are difficult to get into and I'm afraid of rejection
3 - Im scared of rejection
4 - Im not applying anywhere instate and while being far from home excites me, Im worried I might become homesick or be unable to make good quality friends

Anybody care to share some of theirs? feel free to vent!

Also for those who re interested, these are the schools to which I am applying:

it’s k when we both get rejected from everywhere we can be bros at UMinnTC

I suppose there’s always that to look forward to…

People know I’m applying to reach schools and everyone thinks I’ll get in, which of course means I’ll wind up at the state school

The dirty little secret of the admissions process is that most of the applicants to the elite schools would do very well at every one of them and bring great benefits to the school and their classmates. There just aren’t enough desks for all those students at any one college. So you’re doing the right thing in applying to a bunch of these schools, and if you don’t get into any of those you’re likely to bring great benefit to whatever school you enroll in. As your applications suggest, you’ve done most of the right things so far; you’re probably the kind of person who will do the right things in the future, wherever that future takes you. That’s something to be proud of no matter where you go to college. It will also make it easier for you to excel in college and make friends who share a great deal with you. You sound like a really good person, the kind of person others like to have around. However this turns out, I’d think your family is going to be very proud of you.
