college application question

Hi guys,

Say for example if I decide to apply to a couple of colleges and none of them have this thing called pre-application where you should submit as soon as possible for them to open a new file on you, how could i get them to get a file started on me? I don't plan to submit my common app early. Would sending in the fee waiver form be sufficient as I don't want my SAT scores and teacher recommendation to get lost along the way..How do you guys do it?thx:)

I think they open files on people when they receive the first bit of information. A fee waiver form would work, but a test score or recommendation would too.

If something is lost, the school will let you know that your application is incomplete. This happened to my daughter with test scores at two colleges and one recommendation at another. Copies were sent; problem solved. (You can often monitor your application status online too -- so you can see what has or hasn't been received and processed. Just don't panic if something doesn't show up immediately -- they receive lots of things so it can take awhile for everything to be entered into the system. Each year there are all these panicky posts right after the beginning of the year wondering why things aren't shown yet!)

Unfortunately, there is no way of preventing things from getting lost. My daughter didn't send the test scores and recommendations until after her applications and things still went astray. But, if it happens, again, it is easily solvable.

thx alot dianeR:)
