Hi everyone, this is my first post on College Confidential.
I was wondering if I had a competitive resume for colleges such as:
UC Berkley
UCLA
Stanford
Any Ivy
I have a 3.75 unweighted GPA. I am taking all APs and have swum for 4 years, piano for 10, Eagle Scout, and National History Bowl top 50 contestant. I do teen court for 200+ hours, pharmacy technician program at my school.
I am nervous about applying there because everyone says I won’t make it over there.
For my major or school, I’d like to end up going to pre pharmacy or pre dental if that helps.
What is your SAT/ACT score? SAT subject test scores? Your EC’s are good but nothing stands out for the Ivies.
What is your UC GPA? http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/
How many AP’s and your scores?
oops i am rank 118 out of 1533 if that helps, i thought more info would be better
What would help are test scores and UC GPA. Right now, based on the information posted, you have all Reaches, no Match or Safety schools.
sat score is 2180
act score is 31
i am a rising senior this year, so i have taken 2 so far, am waiting on 5 other ap exam scores from music theory, language composition, physics 1, biology, and us history this july
for ap human geography 5
ap world history 5
im not sure how the uc gpa works, i’m from texas and would like to apply to the uc’s, should i still calculate uc gpa?
my safety schools are ut austin and southern methodist university.
For the UC’s, take your grades from 10-11th in your core courses (a-g courses for the UC’s), plug them into the GPA calculator link: http://rogerhub.com/gpa-calculator-uc/ Add 8 extra honors points since you have taken 4+ AP classes.
a-g course list link and make sure you have a taken visual/performing art class which is one of the UC requirements.

If your UC GPA is around 4.1+, you have a decent chance for an acceptance at UCLA/UCB. EC’s and essays are also part of the application package and they could help or hinder your chances.
Can you and your family afford the $55K/year price tag for the UC’s? As an OOS applicant, you will recieve little or no financial aid, so expect to pay full price.
ok cool my uc gpa is 4.23 so just barely above the decent chance gpa but ehh not so sure my parents would like the price tag on college tuition. ill look into scholarships but are they really hard to get especially at the ucs?
sorry, one more question, what do you think my chances are for stanford?
thanks for going through this man, really appreciate it
Other than Regents, given to the top 1% of applicants, UC’s offer few scholarships for OOS applicants and expect OOS applicants to be pretty much be full pay. Stanford is a Reach for everyone and I really do not see anything about your application that would set you apart from the many high Stat, very qualified applicants that are rejected every year. There is no reason not apply if you want, just know your chances are not good.
dang alright thanks for answering all my questions man!
