College applications questions?

Hi, I’m currently going into my senior year of high school and I have a few questions about my numbers on paper.

  1. I have taken 2 SAT’s (both new) and got a 1360 and 1370 (if super scored 1380) should I take another in October and if so should i do it with or without an essay or does it not matter?
  2. I also took an ACT and got a 31 composite with 30 reading and English, a 29 math, a 34 science. Again should I take another one of those?
  3. As of right now i have approximately 3.7 GPA unweighted with mostly honors or AP level classes throughout my high school career and I’m taking 5 AP (Calc BC, Physics, Government, Microeconomics, and Computer Science) courses next year as well. Adding to that i took 2 SAT II in US history getting a 780 and Chemistry getting a 790 and I took the AP exams in both classes getting a 5 on both. With all these numbers what would you say the likelihood of me getting into schools such as Binghamton, Northeastern, Stony Brook, Georgia Tech, and Cornell would be?

Thanks in advance I really need some advice and help. Also if it matters I would like to major in engineering (chemical, mechanical, or electrical) or materials science.

Also if you have any advice on what colleges i should look into please feel free to tell me and also this may matter also but I am from NY.

This is a Carnegie Mellon thread. Was that one of your schools as well? If so you should note a few things:

  1. CMU requires you to send all your standardized test scores so think carefully before deciding to do further testing.

  2. CMU does not require the essay on either the ACT or new SAT. (This is a new policy this year).

  3. CMU requires you to specify a major and college when you apply. You are admitted to a school and/or college, not to the university in general.

  4. CMU has specific subject test requirements depending on the admitting college/school. All but the Schools of Fine Art, Design, Music and Drama are going to require a Math subject test (and the majority will require Math II).

You should check out the admissions website to get more specific info.

Good luck!
