My family does not make much money so even the college application fee is hard to pay for. I recently got my college board fee waiver for college application form, and i am going to use it for Stanford, Duke, Cornell, and Dartmouth. I found that these colleges do accept this fee waiver. However, the form says i must attach this form to the application when mailed, in order to get the fee waived. I had started my application online so I am wondering if anyone knows i "must" apply by hand to use this form.

Also anyone knows if handwriting would play a role in determining an applicant's potential? (my writing is quite messy, but legible if i work slow).

I have called collegeboard about it, but the people were always rude to me and didn't seem to answer my question. Can anyone help me out here?

Thank You

I can't help you with the primary question, but about the handwriting:

Think of handwriting as like interview clothes. No admissions officer is going to say, "Oh, messy suit, you're out." Still, handwriting, like clothes, makes the first impression. Would you walk into an interview with the person making your admissions decision dressed in anything less than your business best? No, of course not. Looking at a handwritten application is the first impression your admissions counselor will get about you from you, most likely. Try for perfection.

Thank you. Most likely i can take my time and write neatly, but it is just such a pain.

Anybody know about the fee waiver issue?

Ah, I had the exact same question! I know that for Columbia, if you choose the fee waiver payment option, you're instructed to have your counselor submit an official request to waive your application fee as soon as possible after submitting the application... I'm not sure how it would work with Common App schools, however.

I know a majority of people here don't care about this question, but i really need an answer, so help?

The admissions website for each school to which your applying should tell you how they handle application fee waivers.

None of the college websites that I've checked has information about my question. Anybody else applying with a college fee waiver know if I am allowed to submit my information using the online common app? There has to be at least one other person out there using cb fee waivers too...

Many schools require a letter from your guidance counselor. Since your GC knows the schools to which you're applying s/he will also know how they handle fee waivers.

satscholar, i have already checked that page and i already have filled out the fee waiver application forms, so that url does not help me much.

dntw8up, my counselor is quite oblivious to the entire college applications process, so that does me no good. I was the one that told her that i could get a fee waiver for applications and even described to her what it looked like.

so still nobody knows whether i can use college board fee waivers if im applying online?
