Actually, think of it that quote in a different light. Say a CEO was speaking and said, “You know, I’m sorry that I mismanaged company funds and drove us out of business, and I regret the fact that a few thousand people will lose their jobs, but I feel happy because at least I wasn’t smooshed in an earthquake.” He would be shipped off to the asylum and roundly condemned. Please pardon Roy for being a real human being. Heck, I commend him for making that statement, it shows where his priorities are.

I wasn’t headed anywhere. But I guess it is typical of college sports that when a coach says something slightly outrageous it makes his own fans like him even more, even as the rest of the country ridicules him.

Once again, out of context. By “our tickets”, Roy was referring to the tickets that belong to the actual UNC team-i.e. the players and coaches. And once again, I agree with him. Why should tickets that belong to the players be given to people that are going to heckle them?

The problem isn’t Roy-it is the selective hearing of all of his haters. Take some time to actually think about what he says, and it all makes sense.

“The young lady that’s our massage therapist, she had the best line&because that was& I saw her before the North Carolina State game, and she said, 'Coach, you may not believe this, or may not feel it all the time, but, what they have in Haiti is a catastrophe,” he said. “What you have is a disappointment.’ And, it’s true. It’s something&I said, well right now in my mind and my body, it feels like a catastrophe, but it is. What those people are having to go through is just unbelievable and it does put what we’re going through in a different light, but it doesn’t make it any easier though Woody, but it does make us understand what we’re facing.”

Roy is sure getting a lot of flack for his comments. Honestly they were kind of inappropriate but I don’t think he meant it in the way some people are saying, but yeah he still shouldn’t have said them. They’ve been discussing it on ESPN as well as other media outlets. But if he’s apologized for it, it will probably blow over pretty soon.

Kind of a sloppy game by Duke last night. But still they won on their rivals home court and in all likelihood will get the sweep this year. Kind of scratching my head on that considering most analysts ranked UNC pretty highly earlier this year. Scheyer is a fantastic player and assuming Duke wins the ACC, which they are on track to do, I think he’s going to come away with ACC POY.

But really those two teams aren’t in final four contention so it doesn’t matter too much. I think Kansas and Kentucky are locks, with Nova/Syracuse/WV/Purdue battling it out for the remaining two spots.

I would think that it’s the responsibility of the person that was originally given the ticket to not give it to someone that might shout something so filthy and despicable as “Don’t miss.”

But it’s good to see Williams has his priorities straight.

Unless, of course, the person in question didn’t have a ticket to be in the UNC area reserved for guests of the coaches and players and simply snuck in there-which is what happened. He didn’t get kicked out because he yelled at Deon, he got kicked out because he wasn’t supposed to be there, had been drinking, and refused to show his ticket to the security personnel.

But, those are just facts.

We agree on something. Roy’s loyalty to his players is unquestionable, which could explain why he’s such a great recruiter and an even better human being.

I don’t know, great human beings tend to be above petty public feuds with teenagers. At least IMO. That’s not to say he isn’t loyal, which is why UNC fans love him and everyone else thinks he’s a ******.

You are entitled to your opinion. I think most of the hatred of Roy is driving more by envy than by anything else. Roy has been able to accomplish great things in a very short amount of time.

That’s true, Roy has been and is a great coach, he’s just going through a tough season. However, in regards to the article where he was bitter about Delvon Roe going to Michigan State instead of UNC, I think Roy is wrong. UNC isn’t entitled to whatever player it wants.

Well, I don’t know a whole lot about the Delvon Roe situation, but Roy does seem to have behaved a bit pettily during the incident. I’ll agree with you here.

Going back on a verbal commitment is a bit lame on Delvon Roe’s part, but is a haphazard of the game…it is merely that, a “verbal commitment.” Roy Williams needs to suck it up, just because his team may not make the tourney this year and MSU’s will there is no reason to beat a dead horse and talk about something that is long in the past.

Interesting that Syracuse lost to Louisville…and the Big Ten is definitely shaken up with MSU’s 3 (previous) consecutive losses. For MSU in order to win the big ten we must win all games (except perhaps the one at Purdue), depending on how the other teams fare.
