College Basketball Discussion '09-10

Another vote for the Big 12 – Kansas, Kansas State and Texas are all highly ranked. Texas A&M and Texas Tech also have strong teams this season. I wouldn’t be surprised if K-State upsets Kansas and/or Texas – Frank Martin has done an amazing job of coaching the Wildcats.

^I agree. The Big 12 is a solid conference this year. It had three good teams in the Top 10 right now and the rest of the conference isn’t half-bad. That being said, I don’t think that they are the strongest conference right now.

Agreed. Here’s what my friend at UNC said: “Prior to tonight I was unaware that College of Charleston even had a basketball team”

Texas was almost upset tonight. They haven’t looked great the first 2 games of the year.

if you lose to CofC, and you are a Div 1 school, then you suck

Carolina is gonna be ranked at most 15th at the end of the season

Cornell up by 3 at half time vs. Kansas… do I smell the upset of the season?

Damn, Kansas up by 1 on Cornell now with 3 minutes to go. I would be loving this if Cornell won.

I would love to see Cornell win too. I wish Harvard wins the Ivy League though. I want Jeremy Lin to do well…

^Same here. I read [an article](<a href=“LIVE Transfer Talk: Arsenal, Man United losing Guirassy race - ESPN”>Locker Room Report: Dana O'Neil: Harvard Crimson's Jeremy Lin fulfills father's dream - ESPN) about Jeremy Lin that enlightened me.

I would have loved to see a good upset by Cornell. Oh well, it was a good try though.

Yeah that same article got me too. I feel bad for the guy but they project him as a possible 1st Round pick if he keeps playing the way he has been. Never really knew any Ivy League player till that article.

^Same here. I always write off any Ivy League school when it comes to big-time sports. That’s why I was shocked last year when I learned that Harvard had won it’s first game against a ranked opponent when it beat Boston College. But yeah, Jeremy Lin is definitely one of the best players in college basketball. He lead Harvard to its win against BC this year and last year, and he almost pulled off an upset against UConn.

Loved seeing Georgia Tech beat Duke today, coming right after Georgetown erased a 19-point deficit and beat UConn. Pretty exciting day in college hoops.

I’m kind of bummed that Purdue lost today but as I expected it was going to be a tough game. However, I would rather see Purdue lose early in the season compared to later on in the season.

^True. Conference play in the Big 10 is going to be very tough this year. Wisconsin has been severely underrated.

Couldn’t have said it better myself.

Georgia Tech over #5 Duke
Wisconsin over #4 Purdue
Missouri over #10 Kansas State
Mississippi State over #15 Ole Miss

Not to mention Marquette almost getting the upset over #6 Villanova (78-76).

^^^(Ole Miss is ranked #14)
Huge day for upsets…in addition to the games above, Notre Dame edged #8 West Virginia and UNLV over #15 New Mexico.

More like a HUGE weekend for upsets. #1 Kansas loses to Tennessee?

Texas is #1!

^For now they are. Unless they slip up, I can see them remaining No.1 for a while, but with all the upsets that happened this past weekend you can never really tell.

Purdue lost again, to unranked Ohio State. And Florida is tied with #2 Kentucky right now, 72-72 with less than 5 minutes to go. Will Texas be the only unbeaten team by the end of the day? Seems likely…

Yeah I was really disappointed with the bad defense in the second half. Oh well… We got more conference games left. However, I was pumped that Hummel got 35 points though… If only Evan Turner didn’t come back lol

Yup, Big 10 conference play this year is going to be brutal. Everyone team wants a spot in the tourney and just about every team is good this year.

I think Kentucky might be the only undefeated team this year, just because the SEC isn’t up to par with the Big 12.
