Has anyone heard of the College Board delaying a 2400 or >2300 SATI. I understand that they are known to delay and research scores if a person has an increase in score in the 250-300 point range. The person I'm referring to took the SAT as part of John Hopkins program when he was in 8th grade and his score was not petitioned to retain. He is now a junior, therefore, the 8th grade score was expunged from his record. Any thoughts would be appreciated.

This happens when there is a significant increase in the score between sittings. It should depend on how far apart the sittings are. I have heard that when Collegeboard looks at the cursive statement. My prep teacher told my class that he had a student who scribbled in the cursive statement part and took the test a few months later and got a 200 point increase. They were unable to quickly verify the cursive statement to make sure they were from the same person so her score was delayed. That’s just one possibility.

I don’t think that CB would delay a score simply on the basis that it was high (from the experiences of people I know). A 250-300 point increase shouldn’t be a problem either, since it has been 3 years in between the two sittings, and it is only normal to improve after so long.
