College Board Document on Financial Aid

Hi, everyone,

I just saw a new document on the College Board Web site

<a href="http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/fa/Economics-Primer-2004.pdf%5B/url%5D">http://www.collegeboard.com/prod_downloads/highered/fa/Economics-Primer-2004.pdf</a>

and thought many of you would find it interesting.

There is one factual mistake in the document, a common misconception. The document includes the statement that "half of all marriages end in divorce," which many Americans believe, but the correct percentage of marriages that end in divorce is actually a lot lower. It IS correct that college financial aid offices have to deal with thousands and thousands of cases of children of divorced parents applying for financial aid each year, and the discussion of that issue in the document is interesting. All in all, the document includes much discussion of issues we all ought to consider as our children apply for financial aid.
