College Board Error on June 6, 2015 SAT?

I got a 690 M and 640 R - -3 on math and -8 on reading. So in other normal years what would my score have been if I had not gotten any other questions wrong? I thought I did really well on the last 2 sections

Three class action lawsuits have been filed in federal district courts in New York, New Jersey and Florida (http://www.courthousenews.com/2015/06/24/lawsuits-mount-over-sat-test-timing-typo.htm) – all June 6 test-takers will be covered by any favorable outcome

If these lawsuits invalidate the June 6th scores I am going to start a counter-suit.

@BobSchaeff I’m not even sure what they want. CollegeBoard has already agreed to offer a free retake in October. Are they also trying to hurt people who scored well on the June 6th exam? Either way nothing will come of these frivolous lawsuits. At this point it’s more humorous than anything.

How do you exactly quantify the damages caused by the mistake?

June 6 SAT is a defected product. The results: some people were benefited, some unaffected, however a good number of people were negatively affected. It is not a valid standard test. It is not any student’s fault , but a total mistake from CB. So to be fair, CB should allow students either to keep the score or to cancel the score if they wish, and to provide free retake options not just limited to Oct testing date.

How do we get a free retake in October? I went to the website and could find nothing.

My son’s scores were 100 points lower on the Math. Great timing as he now can’t take the Subject tests in October.

@OspreyCV22 You have to call them- it’s the only way. And yeah, while I believe that their solution was mostly appropriate considering their error (which was obviously inexcusable), I think they should at least offer a free retest in Sep or sometime before the Oct test simply because of all the kids who need to take subject test during that time.

The May SAT CR had 67 questions in 3 sections and Math had 54 questions in 3 sections. The June SAT CR had 48 questions and Math had 38. Obviously they didn’t score 1 Math section and 1 CR section. They say their reported scores are accurate but how are we to know. I think a retest should be offered free earlier than Oct.

CB needs to score the test, and be done with it. That way, those whose scores dropped -150 to -200 pts total all sections- can know for sure. I don’t believe the reliability at all, my kids overall also dropped -170 (after a course) preparing for it (compared to 2 previous un prepared tests). Forget the 5 min and be done with it- the 5 min mistake can’t be any worse, than dropping 2 sections that we’ll never know if those were the easier or harder sections. Score the june test in its entirety.

This is so stupid. Most of us cannot wait until October to retake the test. Personally, I’ll be taking Biology and Math Level 2 subjects. They HAVE to offer us a retest in September.
Besides, the curve was messed up. I had 2 mistakes and 1 blank in maths and I received a 710, which would’ve been a 740 on a normal test date. They could have at least made the curve a little less harsh to compensate for their dumb mistake.

I believe the curve was harsh for math also. DS will be taking the October free retest.

Can someone please answer my question? If I register by phone for the free October “retake” then does that mean my June 6 SAT scores will be overrided? I want to take the October SAT for free but I don’t want it to replace my June scores either.

How about calling CB directly? Why would you take anyone’s word but the CB?

Yay, so we all took the October SAT and got the results back.
I’m absolutely certain that College Board did a terrible job on grading the June SAT scores.
I’m a National Merit Semi-FInalist who got 210 on the PSAT, but I got only 2060 on that messed up June SAT. Absolutely confused, I took the October SAT to check if I’m really THAT bad at the SAT. I ended up getting 2230 on the SAT, which sort of proves how College Board narrow-mindedly graded the June SAT exam with their so-called “statistically equal sections” method.

So, let’s say you are a student applying to a school that requires all of your SAT scores- will the school then see the lower June SAT score? Or is CB going to scrub that date?
