College Board goofed up AP Scholar

My son has taken 4 AP exams and received scores of 5 on all of them. He was excited when the envelope came today with AP Scholar awards...except that it was for AP Scholar, not AP Scholar with Distinction! Not sure what happened, but I guess we need to call College Board. Anybody else have this happen?

It’s really a minor error, but yes, you can rectify it by calling collegeboard.

What were the exams? Some AP tests (i.e. Calc AB and Music Theory) don’t count towards AP Scholar status.

Both calculus AB and music theory count for the award - it’s just their subscores that don’t count.

^But, if I remember correctly, Calc AB and Calc BC only count as 1 AP, not 2.

Happened to us --called and fixed the problem. Turned out that d’s name was slightly different on one of her 10th grade tests (so files needed to be merged). A new certificate will be mailed I am told (and more importantly, her eventual college will get ALL her scores when the time comes to request that they be sent).

You need 5 AP exams for AP Scholar with distinction. Check the College Board page.

In order to be an AP scholar with distinction your son must have to have taken at least 5 AP exams to be recognized.
He still is an AP scholar however which is wonderful! Four 5s is also fantastic! you should be proud!

^ This. ten char

Yep, I didn’t read the web site carefully enough–you have to have at least 5 APs to get the “with Distinction”. Turns out he didn’t put his social security number on this year’s tests so they weren’t linked with the 10th grade test. Callled College Board this morning and they’re all linked together in one score report now which is way more important than which level of AP scholar he is. Thanks for the help!

Nope, they each count towards Scholar rankings.
