Hi!

I was wondering what you guys thought about college calculus. I know I am going to be taking Calculus AB my senior year, but I have heard that even if one were to score a 4 or 5 on the exam going into calculus II in college is not a very good idea. What do you guys think? Does it depend on the college? I am interested in a minor in math and I would love to go into calculus II (If I even survive calc I) as a freshmen in college, but is it too much of a risk?

No, it's fine. I got a 5 on the AP Calc BC exam, didn't take any math last semester, and jumped into multivariable calc this semester. Since you're going to be taking Calc AB senior year, I suggest starting out easy- many of the people even in the intro calc classes took Calc BC, and intro calc can be tough. Don't overload yourself.

Nguyen, I got a five on the AB exam, and I sat-in a Cal II class at my local university over the summer about a month after taking the exam. There was no problem, and by the syllabus, I made an A, albeit a low one.

It didn't count, and due to my school's policies, I was unable to joint-enroll until last semester. I took Cal II again for credit and easily made an A.

There's no problem.
