Yeah our school doesnt offer that many ap’s for sophomore and junior years. There was only one more ap available to me this year, and that was for music theory or something like that, but oh well

Oops and my SAT is 2140 not 2160 as said in the original post

You’ll be fine. (thanks for chancing me!). Take all APs next year and do well in them. You’ll boost weighted and unweighted. If you don’t apply early you can use that first semester to boost your GPA and then send in the midyear report. ECs are all good! You should get in! Don’t be afraid to apply to other schools, reaches and targets. Look up Mcallister, Lehigh, and maybe Wesleyan? These are all very good schools and it can’t hurt you if you apply. Good luck!

Thanks. Anybody else?

Being involved in anything since you were seven is great :). Committment all the way! And you seem quite well rounded, sports and debate and temple and band and private glider (!) is fantastic! I would be very surprised if you did not get into BU, your stats are definitely comparable. BC is also within range, though they are lacking a bit in diversity. Tufts, on the other hand, loves diversity, which you certainly bring to the table. I am not too familiar with umich, but my best friend went there and had very similar stats to you (pm me if you want more info). She actually transferred to columbia, which, btw, you at least have a shot at. Best of luck to you!
Chance me back?

Thanks for all your help guys. I’m sure you guys know how worrisome this can all get. I have one more quick question, how would you compare my chances at NYU stern vs NYU cas?

no chance at stern.

Whoa. Harsh

It seems that you have a good chance at schools that are more about SATs. I would still try to bring up your GPA if you can, though. Also, I wouldn’t count BU or BC as a safety, they’ve had really high amounts of applicants these past few years.

Any schools that you think I could add as a safety?

Just to comment on what someone said earlier in this thread, you do NOT need 3 SAT IIs for NYU…you don’t even need one. You just have to submit SAT I OR SAT II OR ACT, so don’t sweat, you’re good with the tests already for NYU. (although probably not Stern, but that’s like getting into an Ivy)

Also what would you guys think of me maybe adding Penn state as a safety?

you seem really mediocre, to be honest. GPA is not impressive, and SAT is average as well. I would only call UCSD and NYU (NYU cas, NYU stern is for sure a reach) targets, all the other schools you listed as targets should be considered reaches (or at the very least, reach minus). I only see one leadership position, what did you do at this club. Colleges don’t like to see “empty leadership” that is holding a position but not affecting the fiber of an afterschool activity Perhaps your resume wasn’t comprehensive enough and there’s a snap judgment being made on your part, but with the number of applicants growing exponentially each year, I don’t see anything that makes you stand out as a student. To make your resume seem more impressive, you should probably find out what you’re passionate about (what you want to pursue as a major) and then start projects by yourself as evidence that you are passionate about that subject. That will really impress a college.

My projection

Boston University (yes)
U Miami (Yes)

CMU (maybe, if you can write a killer essay)
Tufts (probably not)
UCSD (most likely)
NYU (most likely, only for CAS. Pretty unlikely for Stern)
Boston College (not a safety at all, i’d give you a 50-50 shot if you write a good essay. 70-30 if you have KILLER teacher recs)
Georgetown (50-50 at best)
U Mich (actually think easier to get into than BC, you might have a shot. Depends on what branch you apply to, Ross?)
University of Chicago (highly unlikely)
USC (don’t know enough about that)
University of Notre Dame (not enough information)
Columbia (sorry, don’t think you have a shot there)

I’m not trying to be mean to you, please understand that. I don’t even usually respond to chance threads but I feel like some of the answers you have been getting are entirely accurate and I don’t want you to get your hopes up. It’s rough out there.

Thanks man. I appreciate all advice, no matter how it makes me feel. I had a feeling people were going easy on me. But I never called BC a safety, idk where u got that idea from. Thanks anyway though, your projections match pretty much what I had been thinking

Say I was to retake the SAT and get ~2200. Would this significantly increase my chances for any schools or is it not worth it

Bump 10char

I dont think you have a very high shot with Geogetown, USC or notre dame. They look for total packages. I dont know much about your other reaches. Columbias definetly a big reach, but just get your grades up and theyll look at you. Tufts can be surprisingly tough too, more than people think

According to your breakdown you got 2140. And I think you have good chances… you can never say.
