College change to FAFSA could mean acceptance?

One of the schools my DD applied to unexpectedly made a small change to our FAFSA. Does this mean she is in? Or is this pretty standard when they are cross checking documents from the CSS Profile?

No, it only means the school is processing financial aid applications.

Ok @twoinanddone …thanks!

My only thought is that since it is so late in the game and we are weeks away from decisions, what a waste of time it would be for them to go through with the changes if they weren’t creating the package.

At most schools, the FA office is run independent of the admissions office. Think about all the packages prepared by the FA offices for kids who end up at other schools.

That’s my point actually. It’s bad enough the FA office is creating thousands of packages for kids that will end up at other schools, so why even bother to process FA packages for kids who will not be accepted…especially for those schools with need blind admissions policies. It is assumed that by now schools have made their admission decisions…

@7182713591 the financial aid offices are required to make changes to your FAFSA if something doesn’t look correct. To get a head start, they do the preliminaries for all applicants. This includes looking at the accuracy of your FAFSA. Then actual packages are prepared for those who actually are accepted.

UPDATE: the school (ivy) that made the change did send my DD a likely letter last week. Might be a coincidence…might not…one will never know :-?

It’s a coincidence.

We have literally dozens of these threads (at least) every year. There is no correlation
