College Choice Cold Feet

So long story short, I picked a college back in May I thought was best for me- a college that I now feel isn’t worth the stress, money, travel, etc. for my family and myself. I’m feeling increasingly limited in my choice of study.

I could’ve gotten free tuition with the in-state school my mom teaches at. This school offers more options for my different interests in courses of study and seems much more practical at this point.

What should I do?? Should I wait a semester and then transfer?? Should I try to get in to the second-mentioned school and switch before orientation???

I already paid my enrollment deposit, got my ID card and everything. I feel sick to my stomach.

If you want to switch, do it now before you start at the school you don’t like. It’s easier not to have transcripts from several schools. You’ll probably lose your deposit, but that just a few hundred dollars.

It is okay to change your mind.

Have you talked to your parents? Do they agree with you? How long have you felt this way? Agree it’s okay to change your mind but you need to be sure – and I think it’s important to talk to those closest to you about this big decision.

Talk with your parents. Consider a gap semester or year as well as simply switching to the closer, less expensive option. Maybe there is a different, better, option out there for you.

Switch now before you start your first semester. Losing the deposit isn’t as bad as multiple transcripts and the stress of transferring.
