Sincerely, I didn't know where to post this so I decided on my present fav. ivy. I have just finished my applications to colleges. Although I have not received my admission letters, I am beginning to think of which school I would finally decide on. To begin with, I applied to all the ivies except UPenn. I also applied to Duke, Stanford, Rice and NYUAD ( sounds desperate huh? Well I didn't have a particular school in mind) so I am asking for advice on which school to choose. Firstly, I love small schools, 10,000 max. Anything larger would be a problem. I love a closely-knit school community with friendly atmosphere. I also love a very very competitive school. Furthermore, I love schools with fairly big and beautiful campuses, and facilities, especially the library and the dormitories. I also fancy very active extra-curriculars. Easy accessibility to professors is also a very important criteria for me. I would also appreciate a very diverse student body. Finally, and most importantly, I would love a school where I can easily study (Electrical, computer and materials) science and engineering all at the same time even if it means a double majors. Pls, what school do you think fits perfectly??? Also, for those who know NYUAD, what do you think about it??? It sounds like it has much potential. However, since it's new, can I trust the curriculum??? Also, I would like to ask, which is best, or rather what are the different advantages of rural, suburban and urban settings?? Pls, I really need advice. Any would be very appreciated!!! Pls!!!! Thanks!!!!!!

First, I can’t comment on NYUAD, no idea what that is. Second, with the extremely low acceptance rates of all those schools, it is basically unheard of to get into all of them. Some students with lists like that get rejected from all of them, and take a forced gap year. I would recommend that you add some less selective schools to your list so that you can have a choice in the spring.

“I am asking for advice on which school to choose”

Before asking this question, you must wait to find out where you have been accepted. As unicameral2013 noted, very few students are accepted to all of their choices. To quote Jeffrey Brenzel, Dean of Yale Admissions, “The universe does the final winnowing for you.”

If you haven’t already, please read the Epilogue to the college process: [Epilogue: After Colleges Accept You | Yale College Admissions](After Colleges Accept You | Yale College Undergraduate Admissions)

Agree that it’s too early to ask.

Rather than start off with a question like this, take the time read some of the past threads on this and other forums as questions like yours are asked repeatedly. There are many discussions of the schools you are asking about.

Why don’t you wait until you get accepted to a few before you ask this question. No point in figuring out a college you think is the “best” and then being disappointed if you don’t get in…
