College Class of 2019

So, the grading program for comp sci bugged out and gave everyone in the class a 0 on the latest homework.

Derpity derp derp. That’s two screw ups this year, CMU! :stuck_out_tongue:

So only a couple weeks left until Thanksgiving break! I’m super excited to be going home for the first time since coming to college. I register for classes in about a week and I’ve got my schedule all worked out, so that’s cool too. How’s everything going for you all?

Also, @metsfanAJM, tough loss for your team, sorry about that. Though I do have to say, I told you so! :stuck_out_tongue: A lot of my friends are diehard Royals fans so it was fun to see them so excited. It was crazy here the night that they won.

Cool, got A’s on my second Calc and ECE exams. Awesome.

You boys are some smart cookies!

Unfortunately @CE527M :(. I’m over it, but the Mets definitely had a chance to win, but horrible defense and blown saves cost them. Still a great season, and I think they’ll be back strong next year. Meanwhile your Reds will be fighting last again :).

I’ve had midterm exams the last two days and will have another one Monday, then I’m done until Finals week (December 14th). I think the first two went well, but I think the Chem exam on Monday will be difficult. Definitely need to study for it this weekend.

And… it happened again. My comp sci class accidentally gave everyone a 0 on ANOTHER assignment. Wow.

Start a rebellion. @hungryteenager

Just got back from a roller hockey tournament this weekend in Long Island…didn’t get any homework done because of 6 hockey games. This week’s gonna be a blast

Hello! I’m taking this stuff next semester:

Molecular Biology - 3
Organic Chemistry - 3
Psychology - 3
Sociology - 3
Chemistry Elective - 1
Biology Lab - 3

Feels good to be home for Thanksgiving.

It feels like forever since I’ve been home and weird but at the same time it feels totally normal and not that long ago. Three months is both forever and barely anything. Looking forward to spending this week with some much needed time away from school.

Hey everyone! My schedule next semester is looking like this:

CHEM 116- Principles of Chemistry II
MATH 320- Diff Eq/Linear Algebra
SOC 134- Problems of American Racial and Ethnic Minorities
PHYS 207- General Physics I (Calc based)

A total of 17 credits. It’s going to be a rough semester, I have a feeling spring break is going to be like an oasis in a desert.

Woooooooo 1 more final and first semester is over

Finished my first semester of college today! It feels great to be home for a nice long, relaxing break. Unfortunately, I didn’t do well enough to make Dean’s List this semester like I had hoped, but I’m definitely looking to improve in the spring semester, Otherwise, I would say I had the time of my life and I can’t wait to be back in Happy Valley in 2016.

@aishwar6 we have the exact same schedule next semester. That’s crazy, you wouldn’t happen to go to IU would you?

Needed a 93 on the final to get an A in comp sci, got a 94.

There really needs to be an emoticon with eyeglasses.

Also, have a couple job offers for the summer

My first semester of college is in the books. I finished it with a 3.332 GPA, which is a solid B+ average. A in UNI 101, A- in Algebra, B+'s in Political Science 495 and Advanced English 103, but only a C+ in Concepts in Film prevented me from qualifying for the Dean’s List. While I have done well, and certainly have improved since high school, this isn’t good enough. Next semester, I will be taking Econ 221 (Microeconomics), QMM 280 (Data Analysis for Business), French 101, Psych 105, and PED 101 (lecture + lab with only 2 total credits) - 14 credits in total. I have to work hard and improve to reach my target overall GPA of a 3.5.

The last time I posted on this thread, I had partied every weekend. Well, after partying each of the first six weekends, I only did so once in the last twelve. I missed ten straight weeks of partying, a solid two months. Some were by personal choice, some were assessment of convenience and priorities, some were because the parties were busted before I had the chance to step out. More disappointingly, Beach Blast remains the only time I’ve gone to the beach since moving to Wilmington. Haven’t really found people to go with. I have many good friends, just not a set friend group, which I’m honestly a little frustrated with at times. If I had a solid friend group, I certainly would have hit the beach far more often. I also have yet to find a woman who I’ve truly clicked with. But don’t get it twisted: the social life here is perfect for me and I’ve found that making friends for me is nearly effortlessly simple. People always tell me how astonished they are that I seem to know a lot of people, haha!

I was pleased with the performance of our sports teams on campus. Our women’s soccer team made the NCAA tournament via an at-large berth, and defeated the South Carolina Gamecocks 2-0 in the first round (the program’s first-ever national tournament win, away from home even more impressively) before falling to the Virginia Cavaliers by the same score in the next round. Our volleyball team won their first-ever conference title, but fell to Chapel Hill in the first round of the NCAA tournament. Our men’s soccer team had a promising start, but sputtered near the end and lost in the conference quarterfinals to the Delaware Blue Hens. Men’s basketball was undefeated until this past weekend when they narrowly lost to the Georgetown Hoyas on national television in DC. They are now 5-2 at the time of writing, having lost to ECU of all bloody teams. But they’ve all done well. It’s great knowing people on all those teams, and I enjoy their company. I especially like talking to the women’s soccer players, haha!! My own intramural co-rec soccer team finished with a 2-3 record and made the second round of the playoffs.

Last Wednesday marked my first time in New Jersey since move-in. Campus was dead on Labor Day weekend in September and Fall Break in October, but I got to spend Thanksgiving in North Carolina with a friend’s family. I went to the countryside for the first time to have four days of Thanksgiving. It was a very different experience compared to suburban NJ. The countryside is beautiful, but seems boring. However, I met some fantastic people, and had tons of fun with the experience. I am forever grateful to them for opening their doors, arms, and hearts to me. All in all, my first semester was a blast, but I’m very relieved to finally be home able to relax for a whole month.

It’s unbelievable how much I’ve matured in just four months. I feel like a different person from how I was only six months ago. I’m forever grateful to UNC Wilmington for giving me this incredible opportunity, and forever proud and privileged to call myself a Seahawk.

WINGS UP!!!

@LBad96: Glad things are going so well for you! Keep up the great work

Just curious, are any of you in Greek Life or plan on rushing in the future? I’m probably going to be rushing in the spring since that’s the last semester where I won’t be inundated with work. I’ll only be taking 4 classes - two of which should be pretty easy - but adding Greek Life to my other extracurricular activities, along with possibly getting a job will likely take up most of my free time. I am looking forward to it though.

Got 100% on EE final

Wow, I finished classes like 6 days ago lol.
