college classes in HS

So, I’m a HS sophomore with two AP classes and some hard extracurriculars. I have the opportunity to take a 6-week beginning language class at a local (large, good) university. It’s during their summer session, but for me will be during school (May-July). It’s from just after school until dinner time four days a week, so basically adding on an extra class while eliminating three hours of study time. How hard is a typical college summer class? In particular, how much homework can I expect (that’s what I’m most worried about)? Will I be able to keep up and still have any time to relax? Is it even remotely worth it?

Thanks so much.

College language classes are pretty demanding, and are even more so considering that, in this case, a 15 week semester is being compressed into 6 weeks. While it will be a bit dependent upon which language, you should expect to need to spend 2 hours for every class hour on HW/prep.

It would be one thing if it were truly during the summer, but I can’t see how you can do this without impacting your HS grades, and you certainly won’t be able to relax.

DONT DO IT.
