<p>We are getting postcards from local colleges with their ACT school code - informing us that my son should include it on his ACT test.</p>
<p>Can someone tell me if we are required to include a college code? Is it optional? How many codes does it allow for? Is it better to leave it blank if we are not sure what schools my son will be applying to? Any benefits to putting in a college code?</p>

<p>I think you are referring to the free score reports? If so, it is completely optional to use the free offer, you can always send scores later at cost. I’ve read some colleges look at receiving scores as soon as the test is taken is a sign of interest but I don’t think they care. He might as well use them if he has any idea where he is applying, but it might be simpler to organize if you wait and send his scores at once.
overall it doesn’t make a difference, they are just sending you postcards to get him interested in their college.</p>
