College Comparison II: Undergraduate Enrollment

In order to assist some in their college search process, I have prepared a series of threads that will compare colleges on a variety of measurements. In making these comparisons, I have created three broad groups (private national universities, public national universities and liberal arts colleges) and provide comparisons involving 117 colleges (national universities ranked in the USNWR Top 75 and LACs ranked in the USNWR Top 40).

Following is a comparison on UNDERGRADUATE ENROLLMENT. Even more than the information for total enrollment, the size of the undergraduate enrollment will be a good clue to the resources at a university and how available these might be to the average undergraduate. This is even the case in this time of financial pressure as many colleges are increasingly squeezed, often resulting in bigger enrollments and fewer resources offered per capita. Prospective undergraduates should definitely evaluate this element as they weigh what the average undergraduate will experience at various colleges.

I hope that you enjoy the thread and find some helpful information. Good luck to all in your college search process!

Stop misspelling Delaware, please? Thanks.

Interesting to see how the private Us move around in total vs. undergrad enrollment.

Great idea hawkette, I look forward to future posts.

There have been articles written about the difficulty for some undergrads to graduate in four years at the large research schools due to the sheer number of kids trying to take core classes. Esp if you switch majors halfway through. I can see why looking at these numbers. Thanks for the post Hawkette.
