<p>im going to be an engineering major in the fall.. specifically computer engineering and would like to know from other computer engineering majors or anyone what kind of computer they would recommend if it makes a difference at all...... also I intend to get a laptop... any reason not to??</p>
<p>Find out what your school's recommended configuration is (also check with the Computer Engineering Dept). They may also have a deal for students. Negatives on laptop: Cost more; easy to steal; hard/expensive to upgrade; not the fastest components.</p>
<p>I can't imagine why CE would need extra horse power for their majors, unless all engineers need more horsepower to run CAD type programs. Maybe CE majors have to take a class that includes video editing.</p>
