Hi, new here. I’m an incoming senior who plans to take college classes at my local community college while enrolled in high school this fall. I’ve done this before once but this time around, I’m eligible to take 2 classes at the college in the fall. However, my high school has a policy that students are only allowed to enroll in one college course per semester at a time to balance workload. Workload won’t be an issue for me as I’ve already completed all the hardest classes at my HS (hence why I even want to take college classes: namely Multivariate Calc and Linear Algebra). My counselor already approved multiple classes for me to take at the college thinking that they just want to have multiple options but I can choose to take 2 if I want. I was wondering if there’s any way my High school will find out if I take 2 and if they do, what’s the worse that can happen?
Is the HS paying for the class? Does the class go on your HS transcript?
No it’s paid for by the college. All I had to do to sign up was get my counselors signature and approval. I asked him a few days ago if they do on my HS transcript and he told me he thinks they’re separate. But even if they’re separate I’m not sure if he’ll be able to see them.
you need to talk to your school because that is a school specific question. Guidance works some in the summer so perhaps send an email. I know at my kids high school all scheules for dual enrollment at the college are given to a guidance counselor. However the classes and books are free. Our school has the same policy only 1 class a semester while taking high school classes or 5 college classes a semester if only doing college classes.
