I don't know if this has already been answered somewhere but...does MIT take college credits? I took a few college courses here and was wondering if they could bump me up to the next level.

...also, how would I go about talking to someone about this?

thanks!

The answer is... sometimes.

For many classes, you still have to take a placement test in order to get credit (ie chemistry, math). I know of at least one person who got math credit for a college-level math course without taking a placement test, and I know two people who got HASS credit (actually, one of them even got HASS-D credit, which as I understand it is pretty unusual).

Information about applying for HASS transfer credit can be found in this vicinity:

Ooh, here's something helpful:

in general, contacting the department directly will tell you more; they'll ask for a syllabus, probably, and the sections of the book you used (i think; i haven't actually done this) besides your transcript. the math department sees this a lot, i think; i'm not sure about humanities. department homepages can be found off mit.edu. good luck!
