college credits gotten as a high school students?

So I got some credits for going to community colleges when I was in high school. They show up in my university transcript as P/NP credits and I don't want them to be calculated as a part of my GPA since I didn't get all A's. Can I NOT send in the official transcripts from the community colleges when I apply to medical schools? What are they going to do if I don't send in those transcripts??

You must send in all transcripts.

Med schools can withdraw your application, rescind your acceptance, kick you out of med school, or rescind your MD degree depending on when they find out.

Do med schools see that the grades are from high school years? Would it hurt chances of admission to med school?

Yes, med schools will know that the courses were taken during your HS years. Yes, it will hurt your AMCAS GPA if you did not receive good grades in those courses.

^seriously?

im a senior in high school now...im taking calculus at the local university but im not sure how well im going to do...as in i dont think i can 4.0 it...should i just not accept the credit towards my undergrad degree?

It won't matter. You'll still have to send in the transcript.

that is awful...will it go into any sort of recalculated GPA?

Your GPA is calculated including all the grades you have ever taken at **any **college or university. How old you were when you took them is not relevant.

But doesn't that seem unfair? What if the class was like Ceramics or something? Or maybe like Chem 101 after you took AP Chem just as a refresher? That seems unjust.

No, it doesn't seem unjust at all. All your mistakes and achievements are taken into account. You'd want to them to include all your A's, so it seems quite fair that your C's, D's, and F's would count as well.

Well what if one course was just for fun and you slacked off or something? I think if you take classes at a community college for fun or for knowledge and you DON'T get credit at your "real" school then it shouldn't count for med school. Personally I think courses that you don't get credit for at your college and have taken somewhere else is none of the med school's business.

Fair or unfair -- and I'm actually with SC on this one -- is irrelevant. This is how AMCAS works.

I don't even know why I'm arguing this, but...

You slacked off because the course was for fun, ie. not that important to you. So when you get to med school and you decide, say, Epidemiology isn't important to you or it's just for fun since you aren't going into public health anyway, are you going to slack off then, too?

Why bother doing anything if you're just going to do a bad job? You're just giving med schools reason to believe that you're uninterested in excellence. That'll kill your app fast.
