College Credits Taken in High School?

Hey:D

So next year the courses I plan to take are

-AP Calculus BC
-AP Chemistry
-AP Literature
-AP Physics II

My school has recently joined Seton Hall’s accelerated program which lets students pay for their credits. Among these four classes, three are offered through these credits. Basically, I will earn college credit and won’t have to take AP exams. The credits can be transferred to any other New Jersey university…

Would it be better to pay for the Seton Hall credits ($400 per class so about $1600 it total for my three classes) than to take the AP exam?

I think the AP exam is less expensive.

The AP exams are less expensive and are much more likely to be accepted by a university outside NJ. I would definitely recommend just sticking to the AP exams.

Colleges outside NJ (Penn possibly being one of them. :stuck_out_tongue: ) probably won’t accept the Seton Hall credit. Go with taking the AP test. However, if you’re sure you want to attend a college in NJ, I see no harm in going with the Seton Hall credit.

UMich probably won’t accept it either, but you may check it on their website.

If you get actual college credit instead of AP credit, the grades will count in your college GPA if you apply to medical or law school.

Thanks Guys!! I guess I’ll take all the AP exams instead of the seton hall credits… It’s just going to be too much money to spend to get credits for all three classes! I am just worried that I won’t do as well on the APs because the tests I will be taking are a day apart usually…
