OK, so here's my dilema. As of this morning, I was dead set on going to Brown. The only other college to give me better financial aid was Washington and Lee and I was willing to end up with 40k+ in debt at graduation if the alternative was a small, southern liberal arts school in the mountains of virginia. But today I got my financial aid package from emory and it would cost me 5K a year to go to emory. I realize Brown is a better, more reputable school but Brown would cost me 18K a year and money is definately a concern (my mom's disabled and my dad's a teacher!). Is Brown worth it (not that brown is better than emory but its a better fit for me) or should I go with the money? btw- I live in atlanta!

go to emory...seriously..do you want to be a 22 year old grad with a sh!load of debt? yeah..that really sucks. Besides, rankings are arbitrary...

Can you or your parents talk with the fin aid people at Brown, explain your situation, and see if they're willing to make any adjustments?

lol, I don't like Brown better because of Rankings!

ok..thats cool...it depends if ur going to grad school or not.

i agree with the other poster. try to contact brown if you can and show them the money that emory is giving you. if they want you bad enough they will help you out. if that doesn't work you should go to emory. they are both great schools and the difference is not worth that much money.

frankly the top 30 schools don;t really have that much difference. Just because Brown is slightly higher ranked doesn;t mean anything in the grand schee of things. CHoose where you want to go based on something more substantial than what US News says

fut said that he doesn't like Brown better because of the rankings.

Wait... how did u get your financial aid package already???

I thought they were going to send them out on April 15th??

Go to Emory...then go to Brown for grad school
Or try to appeal to Brown for more aid
