come on now, I know you guys loved High School Dance / Homecoming. And I miss the high school life.

College Dance / College homecoming / College Prom you say?

Hey, why the heck not?! They have college basketball games and football games, just like we did in high school. So why did they not decide to throw in the dance?

I so wish my University offered Dances. Administration could like put signs and flyers all over campus (like it was in high school) that'd say "First Dance of the School held tomorrow night!" I love just thinking about it.

The dances would be held in the main college gymnasium. It'd be just like it was in high school, but this time, more people! That sounds awesome. And we'd take pics too with your college group of friends. Not only would the dances make you love your school more, you'd just feel more attatched and would really have a great time in college.

My high school didn't have formals, but I've discovered that most sororities and religious organizations have formals in college. Some have them more than once a year, too. Actually, I need to be saving for a dress as I have one (or two?) in a couple of months...

I asked the student affairs and they said the university would not do it....

Find a few like minded souls ... rent a gym ... publicise the event ... and make it happen.

(FYI - I wouldn't recommend trying this because I do not think it will be well attended at all ... various groups on campus probably already fill the need for school based dances ... and activities like homecoming probably fill the school spirit needs)

i live in canada and most universities have formals and semi-formals, according to faculties (nursing formal, arts semi-formal etc) and htere's usually a semi at the end of frosh week too.

as for homecoming, most schools have one, but i assume that you mean a homecoming dance, which they usually don't.

well when it comes to a big dance etc, that's basically what a club would be...so go to a club that's popular with students. im sure you'll have a similar experience to what you're looking for.

We have lots of dances at my school (BYU). They are my favorite part of college actually. Granted, I don't go out and drink or party heavily like most people do in college. Actually, most people don't party like that here.

We have dances--sponsored by various student organizations for their fundraising....granted obviously the whole school cant go to them, but 3-400 can go to the smaller ones and 2-3,000 to the large one in the sports arena.

See the thing that sucks though, is that cops are always present at them....because its college. They'll be ten campus cops patrolling the perimeter. At the first dance of the year they gave out 50 some MICs...

SO most of the time people dont want to go if they plan to get fairly drunk. House parties with a dance floor are more fun for that.
