I don't think I can make any of the college days because I don't have a car right now and my parents work during the week! Is it necessary or important for us to go to this?
I got in to LA CAL AND USC and have decided that I definitely want to go to LA so is it even worth going?

if you decided to go to LA, you don’t really have to go to the college days… though you do get free stuff i think
go to ucla’s orientation though

No, College Day is not necessary. College Day is where UCLA attempts to convince admitted students to go to UCLA in the fall. I went to College Day, and all you do is sit through some presentations, eat lunch, get a tour, etc. Basically a big advertisement screaming COME TO UCLA!

Go to orientation. That’s where you learn about the in and outs of UCLA, and that’s where you get registered for classes.

^^ Hm… I went last year and never got free stuff (unless you count a bunch of flyers). It was like $10 or $20 for the registration, not counting parking.

I guess you can get a continental breakfast if you show up early enough and then later on you get lunch (in Covel Commons was where I had mine).

The only way this is really worth it is if you show up with questions and sit in some lectures. Plus, you never know if you discover some things you can’t stand. (cough The stairs, hills cough). You’d also get to see the dorms. (I know a friend who was gonna go to UCI until he saw the dorms.)

So, just to clarify, UCLA’s college day is not mandatory/necessary?
But we must go to orientation?

What exactly is orientation and when is it?

Orientation isn’t completely mandatory, but it is useful. Different sessions take place throughout the summer. For more info: Google

Orientation is not mandatory but highly recommended as you register for your classes during the final day and have lots of counseling about which classes to take, etc. Sign ups start the first Monday in June. Each session is 3 days long with 2 overnight stays in the dorms. Your parents may attend the parent event on the final day. You will be in a group of about 10-12 students for the three days and you are usually grouped with others in similar majors. There are tours, presentations, counseling, and fun stuff as well. It’s a great chance to meet people and get a feel for the campus and dorm life. The sessions start around July 6 usually and run until the middle of Aug. There are 11 different sessions to choose from but it is best to pick an earlier date if possible. My daughter (who is now a sophomore) did not attend college day but did go to orientation and enjoyed it. We went to parent day the last day. My daughter met one of her best friends during orientation so it is definitely a good thing to go to for both academic and social reasons

I didnt even know about college day when I was prospective.

We never visited campus before so College Day gave us a lot of information. If you have already visited UCLA, there is no need to go again.

BTW, the food was absolutely great! It was definitely worth the 10 dollars for the program fee
