When colleges say that their deadline is 1/1, do they want all my stuff by that time or just my application? Could i send my transcripts/teacher reccomendations a few days after teh deadline?

can someone please help me

someone help

i asked a couple of people on CC and they said its alright to send in the transcrips, etc. after the deadline becasue its really not in your control..

so will colleges like nyu, boston, and usc accpt teacher recs after deadline. the earliest i could send it is after break which is after jan. 5

they probably will, b/c they'll probably be still sorting things out. But you're late as it is, esp if you're not asking until after break.

i have all my teacher recs. i just dont have extra copies for some of my colleges

they usually like it postmarked for 1/1. So as long as it is put in the mail by 1/1 you'd be fine.

there is no way for me to submit my teacher recs at 1/1. i need to get back to school and do it and i get back at 1/5.

It should be okay. Just get it done asap.

For USC you should be fine, because the regular application deadline is January 10th USC Undergraduate Admission - Dates & Deadlines

If the recs are not made out to specific colleges, you can just photocopy them and send them. If the ones you have are addressed to specific schools, that won't work, of course.

All my high school teachers had email addresses on the school website. Try emailing and ask if you can pick up the additional recs. If they already have written recs they are most likely saved on their computer and it wouldn't be much trouble to print out more for the additional colleges. (I did exactly that last year for one extra college I decided to apply to, btw - it worked out fine.)

If you can't get them out before the 5th or 6th, don't worry too much. The admissions people will have mountains of mail to go through in early January and as long as your applications are in on time, it probably won't matter at all if the recs come in a week later.

Most schools (I say most because I can't speak for all the schools in the nation) are pretty lax with their deadlines. Particularly with recommendations and school forms. For example, one of the schools that I applied Early Action with didn't receive a recommendation from one of my teachers because there was a mistake when she submitted it, and they emailed me, saying they had a grace period of about two weeks for its applicants.

You shouldn't be worried, but I were you, I'd email the schools you're applying to just to be sure.
