While WUE is nice, it isn’t automatic at every school and can be limited to majors or the number of kids.
UCCS is not Boulder. Colorado Springs is quite conservative and not the right environment for a lot of students, and Boulder is very liberal and not the right environment for others. Boulder has big time D1 sports.
The school my kids attended in California was very mixed financially, but most went to the college they wanted to without worrying about the cost. Even some who received sports scholarships could have gone to college 10x over without worrying about the cost.
