College Decision between two COMPLETELY opposite schools. HELP!

Hey guys currently I cannot pick between two COMPLETELY different schools. One is University of North Carolina Wilmington (beach) and the other is Appalachian State University (mountains).
I'll give you all the pros and cons of each so maybe someone can help me!
UNCW Pros:
-beach
-warm weather
-beautiful campus
-have pre-professional program for major
-thriving town (lots to do)
UNCW Cons:
-no football team
-not a lot of school spirit
-more difficult
-4 hours away
-may not get full college experience?

App Pros:
-big on sports
-college town
-good greek life
-may be slightly easier
-full college experience?
-less people competing in my field of study

App Cons:
-tons of snow
-freezing
-not much to do since its a small town
-im not that outdoorsy (i wouldn't normally go hiking)

what will be the cost of each to you?

They are pretty close in cost, both are fine and affordable for me.

Well do you want the snow or do you want the sun? I find that location for me is a HUGE deciding factor if i’m stuck between colleges.

Well I would definitely prefer the sun/ beach over the cold/mountains, but it’s just difficult cause the weather and location is the only thing keeping me from App since it has everything I want in a college

If it has everything you want in a school, go to App State and buy a nice coat. Many small town schools have quite a bit to offer students since its more imperitive that the school puts on events rather than trusting the surrounding city to do so. Fwiw, I went to App State for two days this Spring Break and was able to go to a student music show. Boone certainly seemed to have a lot to offer students, although perhaps that’s because I fit most of the stereotypes about App State students. The person I stayed with raved about the school and she studied quite a bit while my friend and I visited.

That’s certainly a good point. Thank you so much! That’s kind of the way I see it too. And What would you say are the stereotypical app students?

If your best fit is Appalachian State, go there, especially since costs are similar. You’ll learn how to ski… :)

Okay that’s what i’m thinking too, thank you!!

My uncle went to App St. and had a good experience, if that means anything to you. Also, while it is in the mountains, it is still NC, so it will not be TOO cold!
