College Decision between Vassar and John's Hopkins ED

I am senior in high school struggling to make my Early Decision choice between Hopkins and Vassar. I am a cross country/distance track runner and have gotten confirmation from Vassar that if I apply I am in, but my concern is I don’t want to jump the gun and apply just to be done with it. I was hoping I could get some advice on what to do?

Heres some info on me

Have taken

Ap US History
Ap Psychology

I am taking this year
Ap World
Ap Huge

Ap Biology

Unweighted Gpa of 3.8 without senior grades-including this marking period would be about 3.9

SAT score of 1470

Extracurriculars

Worked summer of sophomore year at a restaurant
Working senior year as a turor
Have run every year of high school-captain senior year
Have run a non profit since summer of freshman year, raised 35,000 dollars for pediatric heart disease and premature birth our first year in 1 event.

I don’t really know my chances of getting into Hopkins, even with the early decision boost-also fi anyone knows of other colleges that might be a better fit I would really appreciate it!

Vassar is a great school. Have you visited it yet?? Just in terms of running, it’s (IMHO) fa r superior to JH. I’m not talking about the teams or the competitive spirit. I’m talking about the actual running experience, of which you will have a lot. Vassar is beautiful and it’s quite large. Running there will be inspiring.

It’s academics are excellent too. You will be happy that you’ve gone there.

In addition, it’s student body is interested in doing well but not in competing with you directly. It’s more “live and let live” while JH’s student body has more of an inter-student-competitive vibe.

Finally, although I thinkg Baltimore is a fun city, arty and funky, Vassar offers you quick access to NYC. It’s easy to get into NYC as a day trip. COVID in NYC is at the lowest rate in the nation, currently. Museums and other things are opening steadily. There’s nothing like the art, culture, music in NYC. You can figure out how to do NYC on the cheap as you go forward.

Choose Vassar and don’t look back. That’s my opinion.

I agree that Vassar is the better school for what you seem to want. Hopkins is not a sure thing. Take the sure thing and the better choice
